March Madness Basketball Pool
Okay, I'm guilty of saying I'm going to do things on this board and then not doing them (blame work, stress, Charlie Sheen, etc.).
But one thing I most certainly AM doing, the 2011 March Madness Basketball Pool. And I'm doing it the old fashioned way this year....by hand. No computers. I enjoy it and you can make your own rules and such.
More to come, but who's in? I need a list of participants. All are invited. Before Sunday, I will provide the rules of play (one of which is last place wins a pack of Mentos and a Coke - been doing this since 1996). There WILL be some fun, quirky rules and bonus questions (e.g., "Who will be the first 12 seed to fall"; "What team will be the first to score more than 100 points;" "How long will it take an Inside Carolina player to cry that Duke has the easiest bracket?" (never mind on the last one; you won't even have the brackets yet. It will take about a thousandth of a second after the brackets are announced).
On Monday, I will provide e-mail and a fax number to send in your brackets.
Through PM or posting here, please let me know if you are in! Cost to play is $5. One bracket only.

Me too. But I think I'm gonna fill mine out with darts, because this tournament is gonna be freaking impossible to forecast.

I'm in but how do I get the cash to you? Second, since it would cost a fortune for me to fax my picks to you can I send you a scanned copy or could you provide a bracket in Word format so that I can type them out and send them in?

I am going to pay for my entry with a large bag of spent sunflower seed hulls instead of money.

Cheap bastard. You shall receive any winning in the same manner.

Re: March Madness Basketball Pool
First and foremost, "Thanks for playing, and welcome to BOONNATION '11!"
When do I need to have my brackets in? Brackets must be turned in before Noon, Thursday, March 17. Official play begins Thursday night. Sorry, play-in games are for rookies! The real tournament starts Thursday night!
How much is the entry fee? The entry fee is $8 per bracket. Only one bracket per player. Be decisive!
Who all can play? Invite all your friends. As long as I have bracket by Noon, Thursday and money by end of tourney, we are cool. But please get money to me soon. If you win, and I don't have your money, the pot will go to 2nd place.
How IS the pot broken down?
-80 percent first place
-15 percent second place
-Money back - third place
-Mentos and Coke - last place (bless your heart)
Point Breakdown
-1st Round Games: TWO (2) points each
-2nd Round Games: THREE (3) points each
-3rd Round Games: FOUR (4) points each
-Final Four: EIGHT (8) points each
-Finals: TWELVE (12) points each
-Champion: FIFTEEN (15) points
Tiebreaker: Total points scored in championship game. DO NOT LEAVE THIS BLANK!!_______________________________________________________
DO NOT MISS THE FOLOWING BONUS QUESTIONS!!! YOU SNOOZE, YOU LOOSE!!
1. Will a team, any team score more than (not equal to) 107 in tournament? (yes, no) (3 points)
2. How many #1 seeds will make the Final Four? (can be different than what your bracket shows) (1 point per correct answer)
3. Which #1 Seed will LOSE first (could be minutes)? Duke? Ohio State? Kansas? Pittsburgh? (2 points)
4. Name the #12 seed that will beat a #5 seed this year. "No @12 seed will win" IS an option (2 points)
How to get BRACKETS and BONUS QUESTIONS to me:
e-mail: http://www.danbboon32@yahoo.com
PM: You know what to do
Fax: 770.518.9304
To send in entry fee (please do so early), send to my home address. You may PM me.
Thanks for playing and good luck! Should be fun! If you have any questions, just call at 770.906.1088 or PM. Join one, join all!!
GOOD LUCK!!!

To all who committed to playing: PLEASE PLAY!!
Participation is down a bit this year because I've taken a few years off. But we need you!! Brackets in before Noon is most important. I know you are all good for the money.
thanks,
