I don't know if anyone noticed, but the baseball team got a nice win on Friday to get their season going. It was a bottom of the ninth two run single for the win. I listened to the game while finishing my day.
They lost the next day, but came back with a shut out on Sunday.
They play Campbell on Tuesday and NC Central after that, so I'm guessing they'll probably have a 4-1 start for the year.
Maybe they'll have a good year with this young team.

I haven't heard much publicity about the baseball team, except that they're pretty young. What are their prospects this year?

Oh, yeah, and congratulations to Dick Groat for being voted into the College Baseball Hall of Fame. (HOF, what took you so long?)

They usually seem to start well, but get beat up in ACC play. The last two years they have won their series over the holes though, so that would be nice to see a repeat of.

The ACC is year by year one of the strongest conferences in the country, so that's been an uphill battle, especially for a team like Duke that has battled a lack of tradition plus a PED scandal not too long ago. I'd really like to see them break through one of these years. They haven't been to the NCAA tournament since 1960.

Well, they got the win against Campbell.
I hear the ncaa has shortened the sweet spot on the aluminum bats. I would think that would help the devils in the ACC season, but perhaps hurts them in non-conference. I've also heard it's a bit of an equalizer and puts a premium on pitching again.
