Super Bowl Menus

Perhaps this can be merged to the Recipe Thread after the Super Bowl has passed. What are you serving for your Super Bowl Party?

My cousin, her boyfriend and my best friend are coming over so we're keeping it small. That's good because it got a bit out of hand last year. I'm going to smoke a couple of birds (Beer Can Chicken!) and tomatoes, then pull the chicken and keep it warm in the crock pot and make my smoked tomato bbq sauce. From there we'll be making little pulled chicken sliders and chicken nachos. We'll probably have some veggies and I'll make bleu cheese and ranch dips.

There will also be beer.

Still bitter about the Falcons' embarrassing playoff exit. Probably not having a Super Bowl party. Harumph.

I'm going to be recovering from DukePA's 50th birthday party, so I'll probably have a bowl of aspirin.

We don't have one of those big ol' screens that have left-brains spoiled, so there'll be no party here. And, is it just me or does anybody else wonder why they have this thing on a Sunday night when everybody has to go to work on Monday?
Love, Ima

Sunday night is the big viewing night for TV ratings, and the network people want to sweep in the nice people of the Left Coast into their commercial fest, so they start later than they need to for those on the East Coast who have to get up at a reasonable hour on Monday, like servants of the people who have early morning court the next day. :(

We will watch at home with Merlin and Sasha. No idea what the menu will be yet, though we did talk about ribs as a possibility.

In this discussion, was it Merlin, Sasha or yourself that introduced the possibility of ribs? :- =))

Still trying to figure out what I am taking on Sunday for the game.

My aunt and uncle are coming over for the game, because they don't have a television. They're great cooks, so Mom and I, along with those two, should be able to come up with something delicious.

My in laws and some friends of ours will be here. I'm making a big pot of black bean and turkey chili, some cast iron corn bread and a few types of wings.

According to my mother, my aunt is bringing chicken piccata for their Super Bowl gathering tomorrow night.
Guess that means I'm going to watch with my friends, because while chicken piccata is just fine by me, that ain't football food.

Ribs. Buffalo wings. Tortilla chips with salsa and B's homemade guacamole.

For B, probably beer. For me, probably cough medicine. :(

My personal preference is toward the Romilar CF. 40 proof with a quaint nose and well rounded claret. It is marvelous when mixed with a touch of ginger ale, and in the right proportions...you won't give a shit who wins for years to come. :D

Because the in-laws are here, we have now added "meatballs and gravy" to the menu. For those of you uninitiated to Italian-Americans from Newark, gravy = red tomato sauce.

Yes. However, for those of Scandanavian origins, meatballs have a completely different look, smell and taste.

BTW, ludefisk is not on the menu here tonight, or ever. :ymsick:

Since I have not been invited to anyone's Super Bowl party, I went to the Town Market the other day and picked up an 8.5 ounce filet mignon and an 8 ounce filet'd chicken breast and will grill those tonight for a pre-game meal! :9f:
