I owned several Slinkies, in both classic metal and "new age," psychedelic fluorescent plastic.
If you did not own a Slinky, you were deprived.

I remember my first slinky - right after WWII. I loved following it down the stairs with my dad laughing below. :)

I loved my slinky. We lived in a ranch house and didn't have stairs. I always took my slinky with me when we visited my Aunt Marguerite in Richmond. She had a wonderful staircase for playing with my slinky.

Did any of you have the Slinky Dog?

I'd put my slinky in my hand and flop it back and forth between right hand and left (when I wasn't playing with it on the stairs). I liked the way it felt and the way it could either get really long or shrink up to fit in the palm of your hand. Not sure whatever happened to that thing, but it's right up there with the green and white Nerf football (or, a sponge if you will), as the gift with the greatest simplicity-to-happiness ratio.

I loved the way my slinky felt doing the back and forth thing between my hands! It's a tactile thing, isn't it?

I tried a slinky once at a friend's house, and it never worked as per what was advertised. :Boo:

I had a few slinkies. I spent far more time flipping them back and forth in my hands than on stairs. I could never seem to get them to work right on stairs. My kids go through two or three a year. They have a mini one right now that's bright red and plastic. It's about the diameter of a 50 cent piece and about three inches long when stacked.

Slinkies were a lot of fun. Hula Hoops, those damn things never worked right. I could NEVER get them to stay up for long. Still can't. Yet the waitresses at Hooters can get them to go round and round and round and ..... :happy-bouncyblue: :happy-bouncyblue: :happy-bouncyblue: :happy-bouncyblue:

We should have a hula hoop contest at a Brunchgate. THAT would be fun!

Vile.

I'll eat BBQ, Brunswick Stew, pintos, slaw, pimento/pimiento cheese, corn, lima beans, chick peas, succotash, spinach or almost anything else "North Carolinian," but will not eat greens. I'd just as soon stick them in Lavabe's trunk! :)) =))

I once had a slinky made from collards.
While wet, spin them around in a tight spiral. Leave them to dry.
They only work once, but damn! do they ever stink!
Ughh...slink! :ymsick:
:D
Vinegar won't help.
