RPI info

Post by Jesus_hurley » January 22nd, 2011, 2:54 am

I figured it'd be interesting to track our RPI periodically over the rest of season. Especially since it is used as part of the selection and seeding process. So, as of 1/22/2011 @ 2:33AM here's where we stand at RealTimeRPI:

It's interesting that our highest rated remaining foe is St. John's at 15. Many Duke fans have been complaining about the St. John's game for years as not being a challenge and wishing it would go away. The same for Temple. Temple at 37 is rated higher than all our remaining ACC foes except UNC (22) and BC (33).

Thanks for compiling the data.

I blame the rest of the conference...usually we have a much higher SOS..but since all the other teams suck so much, it helps us none.

Realistically, predict the number of losses we get before the ACCT.

I'll start: 4

St. John's, unc-away, md and miami.
[redacted] them and the horses they rode in on.

Two: @ St. John's and @ Virginia Tech. We finish the regular season at 28-3. I hope I'm wrong about the St. John's game as I really do not want to lose to any Big East team. I think we beat UNC in Chapel Hill because they should have free fallen by then with lots of losses. Last year's Carolina team quit on Ol' Roy and I'm expecting a repeat performance in the next five weeks.

Virginia Tech is going to be a challenge for us with their quick guards Delaney and Green. I expect we will go small with Seth Curry and Tyler Thornton drawing the defensive assignment on Green and Smith checking Delaney. Andre Dawkins cannot guard either of those players. They are too fast.

More than this, I don't want to lose to a Steve Lavin team. He talked smack about us throughout last year's tournament, and has been an all-around shitbag for much longer than that. It's not much of a secret that he and K don't particularly care for each other. K would never publicly admit that any single game is a bit bigger than the average one, but I guaran-damn-tee you that he really wants to win that game.
