Most people say that is it is the intellect which makes a great scientist. They are wrong: it is character.

I'm sure none of it will follow Calipari, although the "failure to monitor" should implicate him.

Calipari is to Kentucky as Sampson is to Indiana????CameronBornAndBred wrote:I'm sure none of it will follow Calipari, although the "failure to monitor" should implicate him.

Ordinarily I am of the opinion that these types of things reflect more on the coach than the school/program. But, when a school hires a guy with a known track record of this kind of behavior, the blood is on its fingers as well. When this inevitably happens at Kentucky (if he did it at UMASS and Memphis, imagine what he'll do with the pressure in Lexington), the administration that brought him in should feel the repercussions as well.
Most astonishing is that it appears Kentucky knew about the possibility of these allegations before the hire (http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=4210798). How can you hire someone who presided over a team being investigated for having a player who cheated on his SAT exam? That's desperation to become relevant again. Sad.

I'm sure they knew they'd be getting his recruiting class as well. Hopefully the NCAA will keep him under a microscope.rockymtn devil wrote: Most astonishing is that it appears Kentucky knew about the possibility of these allegations before the hire (http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=4210798).
