Victory Bell Tailgate -- Social Topics

Good news / bad news here. The game is thankfully not a noon kickoff, it's at 3:30. The bad news is that due to some seriously bad scheduling on Duke's part, the basketball game vs. Oregon is at 4:00. I blame Duke entirely for this. The athletic dept. knew when it scheduled the basketball game that Duke was playing not just any football game that day, but it's LAST football game of the season, and that it would be against the holes. They also had no idea what our record might be, for all they knew this could be a game that we were playing for bowl eligibility. Way to go, people.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Guess we'll all be firing up the DVR's to watch the game when we get home. At least we won't have to rush right home after the football game to watch it like we would have if the football game was a noon start, so we can celebrate our Victory Bell Brunchgate after the game too! How sweet it will be!

Duke may not be entirely at fault. The acc/networks may have told them when we would be playing Oregon. I'm guessing there may be a Jail Blazers game that night. They also determine the acc KO times. I'm happy about the 330 PM FB KO as most probably are as we can now have lunch and dinner at Brunchgate and we will not have to leave the coast at dark o'clock to get there by 9 AM or earlier.

My problem isn't with the game time, it's the date. Duke knew long ago the football team had this penciled in. You know when Oregon's next football game is? Friday. They got it right.

He usually finishes the football season before taking over commentary for the basketball season.

I'd like to have his job whenever he decides to retire. I could double it with coaching the Bass fishing team.

Plus, the FB game is local. The BB game is 3000 miles away. Ida prolly seriously considered going to the BB game under other circumstances as my brother lives in one of the Portland 'burbs. Plus, there's always the Bridgeport, Full Sail and Deschutes breweries.

The Second Coming went three for five to open the game, but finished four for 12. One for seven down the stretch won't cut it.

He is so stoked about this game - he wants us to drop him off at the chapel so he can walk with the football team! I honestly don't know what I'm bringing yet - still very much in Thanksgiving prep mode and trying to keep that all going smoothly.
oops, almost forgot...
Very cool that Stephane is coming to another game and is joining the Devil Walk! The Blue Devil is French inspired, after all!
You chose the wrong smilie in your post. Use this one
As for what you're bringing, bring Miles...
I'd LOVE to bring Miles! Miles? you listening?

If Miles comes, he can bring Kelly. She can "hang" with Ozziedaughter's husband and CathyCA's +1. Yeah, that's it, we'll hang all three of 'em! ;) Just kidding, of course. Probably best to keep them separate so there is no opposition rooting section in our midst.

Of course. I'm sure I'll love him, just like I do the other two. No smilies needed.

I was thinking these needed to be moved to the social topic thread... of course, I had a choice comment to make, and had it typed out, but self redacted it....

I assume I would be correct in guessing that it's totally safe to leave a chair at the Brunch tent during the game? It's a very long walk back to the PP lot, right?
