Question About Online Gaming

Post by colchar » May 21st, 2009, 3:20 pm

I don't play online video games but this question is for those who do.

Does playing online games eat up a ton of bandwidth? For example, if your high speed provider has limits on each of their packages (for the purposes of discussion lets say the limit on my package is 1GB per month), will online gaming cause you to reach your limit more quickly? I don't really know how all of this works so am hoping someone else here does.

Does playing games on Facebook constitute online gaming? I'm being serious and not a smart arse.

It might, but I am specifically asking about Xbox, Play Station, etc. (and probably should have made that clear in my original post).

I figured that was what you were referring to, but thought I'd ask anyway. Good luck! :-!

I am a recovering online golfaholic (Links2k3, Tiger Woods), my wife and kids are current WOWaholics. When we'd both be on at the same time, every now and then we'd notice a difference, but not much. I'd still be able to download new courses, play, all while they played, and nobody ever had much lag. I've never done much other gaming online, but the ones I would play, (medal of honor, call of duty), if we were all on at the same time, with the shooters I would notice some lag.
