RIP June Cleaver. She was great in Leave It to Beaver, and I loved her cameo translating jive in Airplane. I may have to watch that tonight or tomorrow in her memory.

Farewell, June.
In a tribute to June, many years ago, the adult kids were out working in the parent's yard. Mom appeared at the back door in a long dress and wearing pearls with a tray of lemonade. We called her June for quite a while after that.

I wonder if those names (Whitey and Eddie) came from the Yankee pitching great from that era, Whitey Ford, whose real first name was Edward, and whose son's name was Eddie. I wasn't around until the Leave it to Beaver reruns, but I had classmates EXACTLY like Eddie Haskell, and the little guy I had my first crush on looked and acted a lot like the Beav.
