geesh...

Post by fordgrl00 » October 12th, 2010, 1:19 pm

I am sitting here at work when I somehow manage to get the hiccups. This sucks! What are your tricks to remedy this?

Ok, back to work. Is it Friday yet?!?

Pinch your nose and hold your breath until you almost pass out. When you take that big gasp for air, it should re-sync your diaphragm.

Stand on your head and drink a glass of water.

It may not work, but after your co-workers see it they may give you a mental health day.

Get EJ to promise to pay you one dollar for every hiccup for the next two hours. I promise, you'll sit there and wait, and wait and wait. Don't know how it works, but my father used to do that with us kids. I think it cost him two dollars once. That's it.

I heard that you get a glass of water, hold it in front of you and drink from the other side of the glass without turning it. It's tricky but doable and works most of the time for me.

I have also heard a teaspoon of sugar will help. Just let the sugar dissolve in the mouth and voila!

I had the hiccups three times yesterday. Each time I held my breath and swallowed ten times. It worked twice. The other time I drank from the other side of the glass.

Another technique I have found some success with is putting a metal spoon in a glass, filling the glass with water, and drinking the water, putting the spoon handle to my cheek.

Close, you actually pour the sugar as far into your throat as you can manage and swallow from there without letting it dissolve.

So, I continued to have the hiccups on and off for the rest of the afternoon up until about 30 minutes ago. I felt like I was having a seizure (sp?) each time one would occur. :-o

Sure hope they stay gone this time!
