James Harrison, Steelers LB, disses the prez

Apparently, the Steelers' All-Pro linebacker and the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year doesn't feel compelled to accompany his teammates on the customary Super Bowl champions' visit to the White House. He says, "I don't feel the need to go, actually. I don't feel like it's that big of a deal to me."
Wow, James...you're pretty well spoken, aren't you actually? I don't feel like you sound that smart to me.
He went on to say that, had the Steelers not won the Super Bowl, President Obama "would have invited Arizona." Um, yeah, dipshit. You're exactly right, because that's kind of how it works... you win the Super Bowl, the president invites you to the White House.
What a schmuck.

Apparently he didn't go in 2006 either.

Yeah, I saw that. He should have just kept his mouth shut about it this time around too, though, because he made himself sound both disrespectful and unintelligent. Whether he realizes it or not, it's a really big deal to get invited to the White House, and his comments were both logically unsound and poorly articulated.

As a Steeler's fan I'd like to say he's a moron. But it's his choice, one which I hope he looks back on with serious regret.

He's not even skipping for political beliefs - just because he thought they should have been invited before the Super Bowl because they are so great - no ego problem there. I'm not sure he is dissing the President - he is just showing that he may have taken one too many hits to the head.

Getting invited to the White House is an honor even if you are the political opposite of whoever is in residence at the time.

Exactly. So yeah, he may not be dissing the prez. But if he's not, then he's just a fuckface. And frankly, I think he's a fuckface no matter what. This is yet another of those infuriating examples of how athletes think they're somehow above "ordinary" people.

That, or he's just an idiot. Some of these guys are just plain dumb.

I for one would be thrilled to meet the President - even a socialist like Obama! :)

How did I know that a post with the faintest hint of political flavor would bring Shammrog back out of the woodwork?

Indeed, I did. Glad you're back, bro.
But if it's all the same to everyone else, could we strive to keep crazietalk as apolitical as possible? Else I'll have to start sending people off the plank. :ar!
