I belong to some other message boards (guitar and amplifier boards) and all of them have a classified section through which members can sell gear they no longer want to other members. Things seem to work out pretty well as they are all members of the same online community and they can therefore avoid the scammers, etc. that seem to plague places like Craigslist (has become a real cesspool these days).

Those classified sections, and the fact that I am currently selling my old Xbox along with some other stuff, got me to wondering if it might be an idea to start up a similar section, or even just thread, here where anyone who has something they are looking to get rid of could possibly sell it on to other members of the board.

Anyone else think this might be a good idea? Or is it a dumb idea?

Feel free to start a thread..you can ask users to PM back about details. There are scripts that I can install that would enable a classified section, but I'm not too into actually doing it. Too much of an open door for spammers...I'll be busier than usual keeping an eye out for and deleting our Chinese Duke fans. (No offense to any real Chinese Duke fans of course. )

Fair enough. I'll get on it later tonight when I am backing up my laptop.

Please please please don't make this one big MERGED thread ;) As long as items for sale are only occasional, a new thread for any item for sale would be OK with me. If items are numerous, we need to start a Chris's List web site and turn it into something profitable

I'm honestly not sure. He's been pretty equivocal about the whole issue.
