Favorite Cameron Celebrity

Post by Lavabe » August 31st, 2010, 3:26 pm

Discussion in another thread has led me to ask this:

Who is your favorite celebrity to have appeared in the stands during a men's basketball game in Cameron Indoor Stadium? Why?

Donald Trump?
Bill Cosby?
2014, 2011, and 2009 Lemur Loving CTN NASCAR Champ. No lasers were used to win these titles.

Honestly, my favorite is when the Duke stars from past come to visit (e.g. when Laettner was there for the last unc game). I love to see how they are still tied to the program. I don't think you'll ever see Greg Newton paying Cameron a visit for a game again.

One game day, this guy came by the office, sat down and visited with me for a few minutes and then asked, "Where's Mike?"

"He's in the locker room," I told him.

"Tell him I stopped by," he said.

"Can I get your name," I asked.

He smiled, "Curt Gowdy."

I hadn't recognized him.

In November of 2005, I was in the same line as Ralph Sampson at (dang, I can't think of the restaurant) to pick up a Thanksgiving turkey. People were snapping photos. It was a long line that looked something like this:

iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

If you ever go to Japan and wait to get on a busy subway, you'll be the i in that line. I was, and I'm only 5/9" tall. It was nice to see over everyone else's head!

I thought it was fun when both Mannings showed up and sat on the front row with Cutcliffe.

I adore seeing Mike Gminski in Cameron. As for stars, my favorite was Matt McConaughey!!!!! I still love that he wore a Duke shirt in the movie "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days"

Well, in this day and time, either you are or you aren't. I'd say you'd have to be one to wear the shirt in so many scenes or you'd take a lot of heat! So, bless his heart!

Never saw the movie, but MMcC is scrumptious, with or without a Duke shirt. :)

He's a Texas Ex..... University of Texas, Austin alum. I think when he was at the Duke game, he accompanied a friend who's a Dukie. He, like many others, is drawn to sitting with the winners.

Cool, thanks for the info (seriously). This got me to thinking. "...drawn to sitting with the winners."

It would be cool if the nation's winningest football or baseball program named their stadium, "Magnetic Field."

Or maybe not.
