TAYLOR KING HEADED BACK HOME - TO USC

``I wasn’t feeling the urge to play anywhere,” King added. ``But as time went by, I was thinking, `What am I doing?’ I’ve done this my whole life.”

King would have been eligible immediately at an NAIA school, but he opted to go to USC – where he will sit this season and have one year remaining in 2011-12.

``Sitting out again will be tough,” King admitted. ``But this time it won’t be 3,000 miles away.”

King said while he would like to continue his playing career beyond college, academics and connections at USC played a role in his decision.

``The education is off the charts at SC,” King said. ``No offense to Duke or Villanova, but they don’t compare.”

Now for the rumor mill....
He left Duke because he was expected to play defense and hustle (gasp!) as well as quit smoking. At Villanova, the rumor is he refused to take a drug test and that led to his suspension.

Nice of him to attend his safety schools first, isn't it?

It's clear that despite his talent on the basketball court, Taylor King has had difficulty developing his talent on the court and in the classroom. His comment comparing the academics at all the schools on his college resume really isn't about academics or those schools at all. I think it reflects his own personal difficulties projected on to his former schools. I hope that by being nearer his family, he will have the support system he needs to be able to find peace in his life and succeed.

I guess technically he is right. USC would be off the chart (albeit off the bottom) compared to Duke. So they are off the chart and they don't compare. Just not in the way he meant it...

Fox Sports edited the quote not too long ago. It now reads:
...
King said while he would like to continue his playing career beyond college, academics and connections at USC played a role in his decision.
``The education is off the charts at SC,” King said.
:)) :)) :))

I'd bet that it's...'Like, out of control', or other words to that effect. 8-}

I wonder if he screws up at usc if he'll transfer somewhere else and then be probably the only Div. 1A player to have played at 4 different programs for each of his 4 years of eligibility. :)) =)) L-)

He needs a mentor who will teach him the meaning of the word "Loyalty." Perhaps he could convert to football and go play for Arkansas and Bobby Petrino?

Never mind, apparently King doesn't want to pay tuition next year while he sits out (no scholarships were available)

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/sports_ ... o-usc.html
...a source close to USC said that King "didn't want to pay" to come to USC, which he would have had to do in the upcoming season because the Trojans didn't have a scholarship to offer him
