NatGeo - And Man Created Dog

Post by windsor » August 9th, 2010, 3:37 pm

Did anybody else catch this on National Geographic channel last night?

It was quite well done.
The fact that they showed a standard poodle RETREIVING and noted that is the work they were bred for made it a winner in my book.

They beginning is a little speculative but their 'guess' as to how canids first become tame/domesticated is a good as any.

If you missed it check your listings and crank up the DVR.
All that is gold does not glitter, not all those who wander are lost; the old that is strong does not wither, deep roots are not reached by the frost.

Damn Right. Of my three dogs (and you know the Lab almost doesn't count) the one most likely to seriously f*** you up in defense of his family is not the wolf-y lookin' Terv...it is the poodle. They do not believe in growling first, they do not believe in warning shots. They believe in full frontal assaults. I have a friend with an 11 inch long scar on his arm that will testify to this :-o (short version: he was joking around, the dog didn't know him. He decided to jump out from behind cover and grab me from behind. I thought I was being attacked. So did the dog. He gave up his arm to save his face/throat.) no - nothing happened to do the dog. Friend lied about what happened since he (rightly) believe it was HIS fault for being stupid - or as he put it "what the f*** did I know, we have Pekingese!")
