NON-Bad Ass Music Performances

Post by EarlJam » July 4th, 2010, 10:32 pm

And we lead off with, Nickelback! Attempting to be a "bad ass," lead singer Chad Kroger gets pelted in the head with a rock seconds after asking the crowd, 'WE GOT ANY NICKELBACK FANS IN PORTUGAL!!!!???? ARE YOU SURE? UP TO YOU, YOU GUYS WANT TO HEAR SOME ROCK N' ROLL OR DO YOU WANT TO GO HOME!!??"

Thwack! A rock to his head.

Then he walks off the stage, giving the crowd the finger.

In short, BWAAAAHAHAHAHAAAAAA =)) =)) =)) =)) !

P.S. Nickelback. Please. On the flip side of this I saw the Foo Fighters during an outdoor concert years ago when they used to have "Music Midtown" in Atlanta. I saw David Grohl take a bottle to the face. His response? He screamed, "YEAHHHHHH, THAT'S RIGHT!" and kept on playing. Didn't miss a beat. Not advocating that bands put up with this, but let's face it, David's approach was classic bad-ass.

Bad-Ass Audiences
Elton John used to be a favorite target in Greensboro. I saw two of his shows there and both were cut short by dumbassity. These were in consecutive years. The first, some idiot opened up a tear-gas grenade from down on the floor...show over. The second, some idiot threw a smoking pipe up to the stage that hit Elton on the head, opening up a bloody wound...show over.

One of my favorite words...Dumbassity

I'm surprised he's ever returned, but he has. These events were in the Dark Ages, or Foggy Ages (1970s) depending on your viewpoint. :twitch:

Aretha Franklin in Greensboro Auditorium. 2004? I' can't remember the exact date and she'd probably like to forget it.
I remember it was mid-summer and hot as Hell and the coliseum folks didn't have the A/C on, so the problem wasn't hers. She cut the show short and didn't say why but the crowd could figure it out. What she did while there was wonderful. Especially the part where the band leaves her alone on stage with the piano. Again, wonderful.
I think the show may have totaled an hour. Damn!
