CathyCA must watch this. It premeires in July, here is the sneak peak they have been showing on BBCAmerica. (It has already aired in the UK).

This looks way cooler than American Idol.

I loved the way the choir director made his choir sing "higher and higher" with the "American twang." You have no idea how many thousands of times my choir directors have asked us to sing "more British" or "more Canadian." (I don't really know what Canadian sounds like, other than Peter Jennings, and I don't think he was a very accomplished soprano, but I have certainly channeled him over the years.)

That series looks like so much fun. And now I need to order another tier in my cable lineup. I don't get BBC America.

Aw man, that looks like wonderful fun, but we don't get that channel either. *pout*

This reminds me a bit of "Operatunity" from a few years back; in that, the English National Opera decided to conduct a nationwide search for someone with no professional opera experience to sing in their production of Rigoletto--at the end, they chose two singers, because they couldn't decide between them, and they were both phenomenal. http://www.pbs.org/wnet/gperf/shows/operatunity/
