Effects of "Good Morning" posted in LTE 2.0

I'm about twenty minutes into proving/disproving my hypothesis that the increase of "Good Mornings" in LTE 2.0 has an adverse effect on the rate of post counts in LTE 2.0. Here are some of my initial observations lending credibility to my hypothesis.

LTE 2.0 started April 8, 2009. There are 28 posts in the first day.
April 17, DukeUsul posts the first "Good Morning". 1 persons\ quotes and responds.
DukePA posts "Good Morning" and then some other info about her day off, things at the hospital, a plan to deal with assholes, and she celebrates the warm weather. 4 people respond.
April 19, ArkieDukie starts with "Morning, all!" and then adds more content. 2 people respond.
May 16, I post "Good Morning Lavabe" and then complain about packing for the cross-country road trip. 4 people respond.
On June 27, June 29, August 5, August 25, August 27 there are "Good Morning" posts with 0 - 1 responses.
August 22, Ozzie stats with a "Good Morning all" and talks about golf and football scrimmage. 6 people respond.
From April 8 through Lavabe's Good Morning" post on August 27, there are ~7200 posts in LTE 2.0. That's 361 pages in about 5 months.

This doesn't prove my hypothesis as there are a lot of factors that can't be account for; stuff like:
The excitement of starting crazietalk.net or
Early bursts of PW-ing energy while those PWs jockey for position
Current events, pop culture or other topics that naturally attract more attention

But it does show some immediate trends. If you post "Good Morning" only, you're less likely to get a response than if you include some other meaningful message.

More to come.

Sadly, Miles's "Good Morning" thread is also in the wrong thread. ;)

Correlation is not causation...we in the insurance industry struggle a bit with this. In many cases the data is so obvious, but our use of it becomes controversial.

And with such a poor sample size, try to establish significance of any such correlation. :-B

Yep. Agreed. But it sure has been fun watching the flurry of posts spawned from the controversy. Hope nobody takes it too seriously. :-s

Can you ever prove an hypothesis? :-B

What about posts where it appears you have said good morning, without really saying good morning?
