Wow this is just wrong:

What do y'all think? Two of the kids that got kicked out were even half Mexican! I happened to be watching the West Coast feed of the news last night, and I saw the kids and their parents being interviewed. The reporter said that it was the vice principal, who is hispanic, who kicked them out. It never even reached the principal's office according to the news report last night. 40% of the student body is hispanic, according to the report. When kids can get kicked out of a school, in AMERICA, for wearing an AMERICAN FLAG shirt...well, I should be shocked, but for some reason, I'm not.

Is this a discussion we really wanna get into here in OUR HOUSE? Will the meds/creator step in and make it go away?
But if this topic is permitted, I will add my two cents:
1) Why is ANYONE wearung the US Flag as clothing. I thought that was not the proper ettiquette and was frowned upon.
2) This whole episode, on both sides, is showing a great deal of ignorance! Cinco De Mayo is a little celebration of the Mexsican folk who beat back the French army when the Frenchies landed in Mexico because the Mexican gov't defaulted on some loans. The Mexican Independence Day is sometime in Sept I think. This Cinco De Mayo thing is just an overhyped thing.
3) I have heard other stories that have occurred. Why is it kids who burned the Mexican flag suspended, yet those who burned the US flag, well, "freedom of speech" was the rule of the day.
Ultimately, I say let whoever wants to rcognize CDM go for it. And those who do not wish to, fine too. And no one should infringe upon the others will to celebrate or not celebrate such a day.

The whole thing is kind of stupid and is yet another example of political correctness gone too far. Some people really really need to take their heads out of their asses.
That being said, I don't think the thread title should read "kicked out of school' when they were not kicked out (which implies they were expelled), they were merely sent home.

Well, since I used to live 14 miles away from that school, and I know the neighborhood (or I know enough about it to stay away from it), I think that the real story is less about the American flag, and more about a bunch of petulant kids who have been causing trouble at the school for a very long time.
But someone took the American flag angle and ran with it in an effort to embarrass and harass a school administrator.

Well, according to the news report I saw, they were threatened with suspension and told that if they didn't turn the shirts inside out and refused to leave campus immediately, they'd be suspended. I'd say that's about as close to being kicked out as you can get.
That being said, you're right, they weren't expelled. I probably shouldn't have used "kicked out". That's the terminology the radio folks were using.
