Wuz I right? NSFC or some other living things

This afternoon I went to Mom's house to mow (manicure) the lawn. A street runs down the side and out front of the property. I noticed that the ditch on the side street was full of about 40 empty plastic drink bottles. Damn! I'd sure like to catch the bastard that would throw out these things, especially in the yard of an 89 year old lady. Later... my wish came true. While mowing, a school bus stopped in the street out front and about a dozen kids got off. All appeared to be the age of late middle-school or early high-school. One guy started walking down the side street. Twenty feet in, he opened up his backpack, pulled out an empty Dasani bottle and gaveit the ditch toss. The young lady companion with him made no effort to correct...BUT I DID!

I couldn't believe he had the stones to do it right in front of me. I drove up, pointed and shouted quite profainly.
"Hey kid! Pick up that fuckin' bottle!" A trash can, in the ditch, remained from the city's collection and after he went back and got it, he placed it in the can as he passed. I felt I had to be as stern as possible to reflect how serious I felt. He got the message. I only fear the little punk may retaliate vandalously. I do feel bad for being so profane in front of the girl but her having said nothing may be indicative of her personality as well.

I understand your anger. I probably would have worked on the kids guilt. I would have started off by saying, "I'm sure your a great kid and positive your mother did not raise you to disrespect others, especially an 89 year old lady. I would then ask him not to do it anymore. I would be looking him in the eye the whole time I was talking to him. This may not be the best solution to your situation. Just saying.....

I think you handled it mostly right, but probably didn't leave a lasting enough impression on the young lad...

Reminds me of the time I was stopped at a red light near the Smithfield post office. The driver in the car in front of me dropped his cigarette out his window. I got out of my car, walked up to his, picked up his cigarette (ewwww!) off the ground and flicked it back in through his window. I told him my street wasn't his ashtray! His look of incredulity was priceless! And then he scrambled to find his still lit butt before it caught his car interior on fire!

I agree with Ozzie, and did something similar at a red light. The car in front of me opened the rear door, out popped an arm with a bag from Wendy's, and the hand let go, the door shut, and the bag laid there on the street. I got out, grabbed the bag, opened the door, and threw it right back in the bastard's lap that did it. I had words, and they weren't very nice, but I did leave a lasting impression on that high schooler. His expression was awesome, I'm sure he's never forgotten.

It would've looked really cool if you grabbed the kid by his ankles and then forced him to pick up the bottle with his face. Just sayin.

You didn't overreact at all see. :-)

Bottles huh?

It would have been cool if you would have let him just do it, knowing he'd be doing it again. Upon the next incident you could have popped out of the bushes to confront them.

"You like bottles kid! I said, YOU LIKE BOTTLES!" (make angry "kill" face) "Here you go! Have a bottle on me!"

Then, you present the lit molotov cocktail you've been hiding behind your back. Throw it at him (have a large rock duct-tapped to it to ensure that it shatters upon contact) and laugh as he bursts into flames. Then say, "No worries kid! I'll help you!"

You then give him the "Stop, Drop and Roll" treatment, only you Drop him into the rubbing alcohol-laden ditch that you prepared hours earlier. As the rubbing alcohol seeps into his wet, burned flesh, you then Roll him into the previously prepared pile of razor blades and thumb tacks. (Call 911 at this moment; be sure to make it look like an accident).

When the screams subside and the boy loses consciousness, stand over him and do your best Clint Eastwood, "Wanna continue to thow bottles in my old lady's yard? Go ahead. Make my day."

Then, do the right thing by turning to his girl and informing her she need not worry because the ambulance is on the way.

Just a suggestion.

The ditch today, is uncontaminated by bottles. Tomorrow I'm taking an old trash can down there and tying it up in the ditch with an inscription...

PLEASE FEEL FREE TO USE THIS CAN ANYTIME, INSTEAD OF THE DITCH

I do like the Molotov cocktail idea, however. I'm not a totally bad guy. :twitch:

A guy I work with said I should have discreetly followed the kid home, to see where he lived. Then, next day, with all the bottles collected, proceed to his house and deposit them on his front step. Leave a note expressing my desire that he shouldn't want to lose them. :D

You better be more specific about what they can use the can for... or you might find an unpleasant surprise.
