Who saw this one coming?
So far, Skinner, Purnell, and Gaudio.
What about Lowe?

Not me...I saw it coming next year. When was the last time the ACC had 3 coaching jobs open? (BC has been filled, but three ACC schools total)

On the radio this morning (620) they said this was supposed to be his last season if they did not make the tournament, but due to the recruits he was able to land and the effort of the team the administration decided to give him another season. If he gets CJ Leslie or Luke Cothron to recommit, and if Harrow and Lorenzo Brown are as good as advertised they could be halfway decent next year - and if Tracy Smith returns also they may finish in the top half of the ACC for the first time in forever.

But is that all they are shooting for at State? Top half of the ACC?

I'm pretty sure if the wuffies didn't have to show up in Greensboro on Thursday for once, they'd be estatic. That would also most likely ensure a trip to the NCAA's. If they lose in the first round of the dance, they might hang a banner.

To be absolutely honest, I really, really miss the days when N.C. State was really good. They've been average to slightly above average (at best) for many, many years. The last REALLY good team I can remember from N.C. State was Fire and Ice (Monroe and Corchianni).
Come back N.C. State!

I agree...we need them to get back to greatness. I hope they get a really good coach one day.

I think Dino is a good guy.
Pisses me off that Ron Wellman is through with Dino.
I want WFU to do well. My goodness, as much money as I've invested in that school, I really do want them to get some positive publicity, and basketball would be a good way.
I think this dismissal of Dino Gaudio is short-sighted. Bite my big fat tushie, Ron Wellman!

I think it was a stupid move to let him go. Aminu leaving may have been the straw...

Anyone else notice the interesting double standard over yonder with regard to the ACC coaching searches? They bash Wake for going after a 57 year old coach, suggesting that he's too old, and then suggest that Clemson hire Nolan Richardson, who is 10 years older than that. Uh, hello?
As an aside, I do think that Nolan Richardson would be a good fit for Clemson.

I haven't read the articles (I did see the headlines), but if they are indeed taking the stance you mention above, you make a most excellent point. Someone should call them on that. As for Boston College, I think they should go after John Wooden.

E-mail sent; I think I was pretty diplomatic. I did a quick google search to confirm Nolan's age. He'll be 69 in December.

Good thing Duke would never do that. I'd hate to be stuck with someone that age. Could you imagine if Duke took such a chance?

I got my response. Nolan wasn't a serious suggestion, followed by, "I didn't realize he's 68!"
