New diary entry out. UNC is trying to get in on this. They contacted his AAU coach to get permission and Austin is allowing them to recruit him. Hopefully he goes ahead and commits to Duke in a few weeks...
Right now I’m still focusing on Duke and Florida, but I guess you could say that North Carolina is another school I’m considering too because they came down and they’re recruiting me now. If I were to de-commit, those are the schools that I would look at; and maybe one or two more. But as of right now, Duke and Florida have the lead because I have a long history with those schools. North Carolina is really just coming into the picture now. Again, my situation is different. I might de-commit, I might not. Right now I’m focusing on the NHSI tournament.
OK, so let’s talk about the Final Four. I’m definitely picking Duke, no doubt. Duke is definitely gonna win it. They’ve got to. I shot Coach K an e-mail after they won Sunday and I’m planning on calling him again sometime this week.

Austin decommits from Florida

The 6-foot-3 Rivers will be a senior in the fall and now says he's considering other schools -- with speculation that he's now leaning towards signing with Duke during the early period in November, instead.

Austin Rivers speaks on Florida de-commitment

Which schools do you still want to visit?

I want to visit Duke and Florida again, just to go up there. And I wanna visit North Carolina and am probably just gonna pick a couple random schools, Kentucky Texas, just something like that.

Has anyone started getting in your ear a little bit?
Just Kyrie (Irving). That’s my dude. My best friends AAU-wise are Kyrie Irving (Duke) and Myck Kabongo (Texas), so they’ve been talking to me.

Here's my deal with Rivers....He is soooo far out down the roster pipeline that I don't care. If he comes, great. If Roy gets him, whatever. I don't care right now. By the time he would ever suit up for Duke, we could have won another championship. ( I HOPE SO!!) It's not being rude, it's just being factual. I'll tune in again to his bit 6 months from now, when his HS career is winding down, and Seth Curry's Duke career is finally heating up. We have another awesome season in front of us, and I see Rivers quickly turning into a Wallish distraction. Not for me, not when we have way better things to focus on. GO DUKE!!

I got up early Friday morning and went on a tour of the campus with my AAU coach (Therion Joseph) and that was really fun too. The main thing with that was I wanted him and a few of my other coaches to get a chance to see the campus and meet the Duke coaches. I wanted them to get a taste of what Duke’s all about.

To be honest, Coach T.J. had only seen Florida and it’s been kind of annoying always having him in my ear saying “Gator this” and “Gator that.” So I wanted him to see Duke and see what they had to offer down there. Right after we left there he was in the Duke family! It was funny! He went from being a Gator to a Blue Devil in a matter of hours. He was just really impressed with how they operate and the atmosphere down there.
As for my next visits, I’m gonna try and visit North Carolina this summer and possibly Kansas and Texas. I think I’m gonna get down to North Carolina in the next month or so and see what’s going on down there. Then I’ll set something up with the other schools.

My goal is to have a decision around August. I want to have it done before my high school season for sure, but I’m shooting for August. That looks doable right now.

I like it when they use the word 'doable' in a sentence. :D

Expect this recruitment to end shortly after the Celtics season is over. Please read, Austin Rivers to Duke.
(Still relishing another NCAA championship, very awesome.)

I had thought he said he would announce sometime in August. Not that I wouldn't mind hearing earlier, at least we won't have to wait until next year. If that were the case, I'd quit paying attention until then.

Word on the street is that during the Tournament of Champions AAU event at the end of the month he's going to pop over to see 'Ol Roy and watch as the NIT runner up banner is hung front and center in the Mausoleum (well, he's supposed to stop off and see Chapel Hill anyway...). After that, particularly if the Celtics are done for the season, it could happen at any time - though it'll supposedly be sooner rather then later.

That would be great if he committed to Duke during his visit to the dump on the hump...

Via Skype, of course...

:)) =))

Interesting read. Who knows. I refuse to let the issue make me lose sleep.
