Favorite Duke Teams

Thought I'd get this in before the games. I've been meaning to post this since before the tournament but I've had an office move to prepare for and complete...

This is my favorite team in a long time. I like them more then the JJ teams, slightly above the Williams/Battier led teams, more then the 99 team. Maybe not quite as much as 86, 91, and 92 teams (I can't speak for teams prior to that - 86 is the first team I can remember start to finish). They play hard on every play. They play inspired defense. They score when they need to, and you can almost always count on one of the big three to hit a tough shot to seal the game. Maybe it's partly because they weren't expected to do anything in the post season, but for sure it's because of the toughness and absolute will to win that starts with the seniors. Regardless of what happens this weekend, this team is easily one of my favorites.

GO DUKE!!

1986 is one of my favorite teams, but that's because I've known them since they were in high school and Coach K was recruiting them. I had memorized all of their home addresses because I typed all of his correspondence to them.

This team reminds me a lot of the 1986 team.

I also like the 1989 team, the 1991 team, the 1992 team, the 1999 team and the 2001 team.

I like the 1981 team, the 1982 team, the 1983 team and the 1984 team, too. ;)

Asking me which Duke team is my favorite is like asking parents which one of ytheir children do they love most. Each team has made a place in Duke lore over the years. Many special players have added their own contributions to the history and legend passed on as Duke basketball.

I've loved every Duke team from the time I first learned about Duke..... thanks to my grandfather and my father, that began when I was learning to talk! I have fond memories going back to Duke's first appearance in the Final Four while Vic Bubas was the coach. I love the current team as the newest edition of Duke basketball. They have an undeniable chemistry that just gets better and better.
