I just read this somewhere else already:Lavabe wrote:We are all William & Mary fans!!

This is just wrong. What deserving team was knocked out of the NIT to make room for the holes? How much money changed hands so they could get a bid AND A 4 SEED! (If you're trying to type in all caps and hit the 4 while holding down the shift key, you get a $ sign. Coincidence? I think not!)Lavabe wrote:We are all William & Mary fans!!

Wow...they are charging $40 to see unc play their last game of the season.CameronBornAndBred wrote:I believe the holes will be playing in Carmichael, due to "renovations" in the dome. (IE, less empty seats).
Gotta pay for that "NIT participant" banner somehow.CameronBornAndBred wrote:Wow...they are charging $40 to see unc play their last game of the season.CameronBornAndBred wrote:I believe the holes will be playing in Carmichael, due to "renovations" in the dome. (IE, less empty seats).
I agree with that 100%. Name recognition carried the day, no way they deserved a 4 seed, bjornolf wrote:William & Mary isn't a bad team. They hung tough with UConn when the Huskies were still considered decent, they won AT Wake, they upset Maryland on the road, and they have wins against VCU and Richmond. ODU was their stumbling block this year, beating them twice in the regular season and again in the Patriot Tourney to get the NCAAT spot. I wouldn't count them out of this game at all. Long story short, I don't think this #4 seed is such a gift to the Tarholes, the way they've been playing.
I have several friends who went are MOT (members of the Tribe) and I almost went there, so I'll definitely be pulling for them. Any idea when the game will be on?
I doubt money changed hands. Royboy probably just had his people tell the NIT that they wouldn't play unless they got to play at home. The NIT wanted a team like UNC, so they gave them the seed, ;)
They didn't deserve anything but the CBI.Jesus_hurley wrote: I agree with that 100%. Name recognition carried the day, no way they deserved a 4 seed,
"Seeing we were playing against North Carolina was very exciting," said Shaver, whose Tribe opens in the NIT against the Tar Heels Tuesday night. "The only disappointment, quite honestly, is that we're playing down there and not at home.
"I think it's a real injustice. But we'll go play anywhere and anytime right now."
Imagine: William and Mary feeling slighted by being sent to North Carolina. But Shaver has a point. The Tribe has a better resume.
W&M is 22-10 to UNC's 16-16, which many would dismiss as a product of the respective conferences. But at No. 58, the Tribe finished 34 spots ahead of Carolina in the RPI. W&M was 2-0 vs. the top 25; UNC was 1-5.. One of the Tribe's wins came at Maryland, where UNC lost by 21.
Game is at 9:30..good luck filling those seats.Jesus_hurley wrote:http://www.newsobserver.com/2010/03/15/ ... rices.html
The 'holes cut ticket prices from $40 to $20 due to sucking so bad. They claim it's because of the 9:00 start time, but we all know they lie
I REALLY like Lavabe's idea of going to cheer for W&M. I'd do it if I lived in the area. It's disgraceful that the team with the worst record in the entire field is given the gift of a 4 seed and a home game. I've been amazed by the number of talking heads I've heard say that the NIT field is great because UConn and UNC are in it. My immediate thought is, "Hello? Have you watched either of these teams play this year?"CameronBornAndBred wrote:Game is at 9:30..good luck filling those seats.Jesus_hurley wrote:http://www.newsobserver.com/2010/03/15/ ... rices.html
