Took the dog to the vet today. Turns out her eye is bulging and turning a bit. It's indicative of something behind the eye. Swelling from an abscess or infection or even a tumor. We'll get bloodwork back on Monday to see if her WBC is up, which would indicate an infection. If that's normal, then we're looking at needing an MRI to see if it's a tumor.

She's 9, but many bichon frises live to 12 to 15 years (Lisa's childhood bichon lived to 18!), so we haven't really expected something serious like this.

Mia was our first baby and it's gonna be hard if this is really serious. Our other dog (Maggie) has never been without Mia and has such tremendous anxiety when Mia isn't around, I don't know what she'd do if we lose her. And I really am not ready to have to explain something like this to Katie.

As someone who had three dogs two at a time over about 20 years, (Babe, Babe and Ladybug, Ladybug, Ladybug and Snowflake and finally just Snowflake) when one dies the other is affected for a short while, but then moves on. They are sensitive to the loss but quickly move on. People take longer to get over the loss.
