Vanilla, end of story.

vanilla. It can be decorated in a variety of ways. I prefer vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup to chocolate ice cream.

Chocolate for sure! It comes in so many forms, but the best is the dark, semi sweet chocolate. And it's good for you..... in moderation, of course.

Chocolate, although vanilla comes in a close second!

Are we talking strength of flavor? How to create each?
Chocolate is a processed food and vanilla is a plant extract. I don't think they can be compared by themselves, but if you put them into foods, and then compare the foods chocolate kicks vanilla's ass. Evidence to support:
Chocolate milk
Chocolate flavored beers
Chocolate liqueurs
Chocolate ice cream
Chocolate chip pancakes
Chocolate chip cookies
Chocolate brownies
Chocolate in stews
Smores

I'm with Miles and CathyCA on this one! However, I do enjoy as AD mentioned, vanilla with chocolate syrup poured all over! Yumm! I might just have to go make some now! ;)

I love vanilla. I just think this is poor topic for discussion because we're comparing two dislike things. Like trying to compare Microsoft and Apple, two very different companies that appear the same on the outside.
