Crystal Mangum is in the news again. For those who may not recoginze the name, she was the person who accused our lacross players of rape. She has flipped again, had a fight with her boyfriend, stabbed him and set fire to some clothes in the house. She is a sad case. WRAL tv has the story this morning.

Who the hell would date an established nutcase? And not your average every day nutcase, but one who has proven she is a "throwyerassinjail" nutcase.

Police charged Mangum with identity theft because she gave them a fake name, "Marella Mangum," and age, authorities said.
That is one of the stupidest charges I've ever heard of.

Correction. She did not stab her boyfriend. I do hope Child Protection Services (with Social Services) removes them out of her custody.

It's possible that her "boy friend" has his own serious personal problems.

Not just possible, but pretty much a given. Mentally healthy people are not attracted to insane nutballs.

I agree. I was attempting to be tactful and indirect.

These are the cases that make me wonder when Americans' seemingly insatiable interest in "second chances" ends. Mangum has had far more than her fair share of chances, and continues to squander them in a fashion not only unbecoming of her, but also repeatedly injurious to others.
If not for the children involved, I'd say she deserves to be in the slammer for as long as possible. I'm not sure having that loon of a mother in jail wouldn't give the kids a better chance at things anyway.

I typically won't pass judgement on anyone and give the benefit of doubt, BUT in this case.... I have to agree with YOU, she IS A POS!

Once a fruit loop, always a fruit loop, apparently. I feel for her kids. She has not set a shining example for them to follow. I certainly hope that children's services, or whatever it is called in NC, takes a very careful look at the situation to determine what is best for those kids.

And she is a POS. :poo: :poo: :poo: I think she has used up her second chances. What is really annoying is that some of the comments after the various articles still think the lacrosse team did something. :angry-banghead: :angry-banghead: :angry-banghead: :angry-banghead:

Fortunately Mike Nifong has been disbarred. Otherwise I'm sure the arresting officers would already be under the microscope and evidence fabricated or ignored to fit the charges.

(and he was the DA, the state AG was the one who dismissed the charges)

Several players in the Duke lacrosse case, including Duke Unviersity and the North Carolina Attorney General's Office, declined to comment on the case.

Nifong could not be reached for comment.
Because the lacrosse players, Duke, and Nifong had so much to do with this story......

They didn't use good judgment in having a stripper at a beer party involving underage students on a Monday night during their season.

She was a ho then, she's a ho now. I wonder if she knows Tiger Woods. . .

Personally, I think what they did (party, having a stripper there, etc.) was pretty harmless and tame. Then again, I think we Canucks have a far more easy-going view of those kind of things than Americans seem to.

Tiger may have acted like a douchebag but at least he had high enough standards so as to keep her out of the pool.

I fully realize the AG dismissed the charges against the LAX team. My point was that the AG refused to pursue any charges against the POS who started the fiasco.

Taken by itself (the party with the stripper), might have been harmless and tame. However, the team was on a very short leash having been in the police and public eye for various other offenses (public drunkeness, public urination, loud and obnoxious behavior in a residential 'hood, etc). Pressler had warned them after their match that day or the day before, "not to do anything stoopid," and that's exactly what they did. What they did was also on University property and that makes it more offensive and damaging to the school. They certainly did not deserve the absolute hell to which they were subjected but their judgment was highly questionable.
