It's getting to be about that time...we've rounded the post-carolina corner and are coming down the home stretch. I think we look like a solid bet for a 2 seed right now. Slim chance we grab a 1, as Kansas, Kentucky, and Syracuse all three are just about locked into that position. I don't think we deserve a #1 seed this season anyway...2 seems just about right to me.

As for the ACC, Joe Lunardi of ESPN.com has the conference with 6 in in his latest projection:

Virgnia Tech and Virginia are the first two teams he lists among "First Four Out," meaning that the conference is on the cusp of getting a 7th (or even 8th) invitation. At this point, I think 6 ACC bids are likely: Duke, Maryland, Wake, GA Tech, Climpsun, and Florida State (and I would also put the teams in that order...maybe Tech ahead of Wake). Florida State is in the danger zone and could easily drop out. It might be more likely that they get swapped out for UVA or VA Tech than that one of those two teams joins them in the field.
That makes today's battle in Blacksburg a big showdown. If the Hokies take today's game, UVA's tourney hopes go on life support, as that would constitute a sweep at the hands of their intrastate competitors for that bid. Coupled with the longstanding intensity of that rivalry, today's game should be a lot of fun to watch.

UNC is a "fart bubble" team. I do not know what compelled me to write that. It is not funny and it is not witty. I just wanted to compare UNC to a fart in some way. So, I have at least accomplished that. UNC is stinky.

My only quibble with this is the free fall of GT has them as bubble worthy material at this time, IMHO. We could come really close to slamming the door on UVa with a W at JPJ Arena about 2 weeks from now. Unless, of course, Greenturd's thugs and the terps beat them before we do.

That could well be a season-on-the-line evening for the 'Hoos. Their losses are piling up. Regardless of their finish, though, I think all can agree on the excellent job Tony Bennett and the team have done.

Agreed. At this point, even being the huge homer that I am, I think I would give the COY to Bennett. The unbalanced schedule helps some. El Sid has so far earned his WCOY with 2 L to the wretched 'holes.

I think you are correct - a #1 seed is highly unlikely. I think Kansas and UK have 2 of the one seeds and Syracuse, Villanova, and MSU are the most likely going to fight out the other 2, with Purdue as a wildcard. But I could see a circumstance - such as we win out and win the ACC tournament and a couple of these teams lose a few in season and then early in their tournaments...

That being said, I think I could live with a 2 seed.
