The Nolan incident was bad, but I still have to go with Hurley. The "from-contact-to-floor" speed was much faster with Hurley and you could almost see shockwaves coming from his body. I mean look at his head at contact. Have you seen the movie, "The Hangover?" Remember when Tyson punched that guy and he went straight to the deck? That was Hurley here.

You guys are too young to have seen Art Heyman play. He's the original iron man who couldn't be stopped even when a Carolina player mugged him on the court sending him to the hospital after the game. I've never heard of another player enduring the number of times opposing players, mostly Carolina, would spit on him, especially when he had the ball and was shooting.

Artie's expected to be at the game tomorrow.

I was at that game, and I remember the play like it happened yesterday. A wallop, indeed.

I have to think about this one...Hurley was going faster but the screener fell back more. I wonder if Hurley would have been checked for a concussion and missed a couple of weeks had it happened in this day and age?

Hmmm, I voted before seeing the clips, thinking it was a cumulative thing. Bobby got the snot knocked out of him on a regular basis as he headed straight into the fray more often. Nolan's silkier moves help him weave in and out of trouble a little more often. Bless 'em both.

Good point.

Heyman may very well be the toughest. I've only heard and read stories, but it sounds as though he was a "tough guy" in a "tough guy's" era.

I don't know, it's a tough call. Between those two particular plays, I'd probably go with Hurley.

However, Wojo took more jaw-rocking screens over his career than anyone I can think of. He had two black eyes most of a couple of seasons. There was a while there where he was taking almost one a game. I'd say for a career, it would be between Heyman and Wojo as to who got more snot knocked out of them. Of course, as others have pointed out, opponents helpfully tried to replace Heyman's. ;)
