A reasonable assessment of the heels' remaining schedule puts them at 18-13/7-9 ACC (this assumes we're fortunate enough to beat them twice). Is that good enough? I honestly don't know if it is. They have the two very good non-conference wins over Mich St. and Ohio St., but by Selection Sunday, the more recent of those games will be more than three months in the rear-view mirror.
If that resume gets them in the tourney, it's brand equity and nothing more. Of course, there's still a lot of ball to be played, and they could either bolster their resume considerably, or remove doubt entirely in the other direction. :-??

Some light interwebbing reveals a unc RPI somewhere in the low 60s (before tonight's loss). That is yet another black mark on their resume. I try not to charge favoritism (since we have to deflect such charges so often), but a heels at-large bid would very possibly be just that.

UVA made Ol' Roy cry...literally.
For his part, Williams – who was tearing up after the game, he said, because he was so “ticked off” – said that he must find a way to push the Tar Heels to get better.

When Ol' Roy comes to Cameron the place should be filled with official "crying towels"! There should be a big crying babydoll in his seat. All the Crazies should welcome him blubbering and bawling. This is getting to be downright silly. With all the hell Coach K went through, you never once saw him in this condition. The Heels need a leader, not a crybaby, :(( bless his heart.
Love, Ima

I love this. I expect numerous baby blue bonnets among the Crazies. Seriously, this needs to happen.

If you need a good laugh I highly suggest checking out IC - http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=78&f=1410

Over 2 pages of new threads talking about what's wrong with the team, what they would do to fix it and the like. It kept me entertained earlier today :D

In the chat during the UNC game I asked if anyone else thought that someone would spin the Duke loss as worse then the UNC-CH loss. We made it through Monday without it coming up, but this morning I was listening to 620 on the way in to work. Adam Gold and Joe Ovies were talking about the losses and it happened.

Adam Gold said 'individually, the UNC loss is worse, but in the big picture the Duke loss is much worse.' Why? Because somehow losing on a top 10 team's floor will make the ACC look weaker. Joe Ovies and Mike Decourcy tried to explain to him that since conference play started all the teams that have gone on the road OOC have played poorly: Texas vs Uconn, Ohio St vs WVU and there was one other they mentioned that I forget now. But Adam Gold stood his ground and said the Duke loss is worse cause if the top team in the ACC can't beat the 3rd best team in the Big East going away then what does that say about the ACC?

Anyway, I'm feeling a little verklempt, I've given the topic, discuss.

How desperate was North Carolina’s coaching staff at halftime Sunday night? Roy Williams changed from wearing sneakers, which were part of a promotional deal for Coaches Against Cancer, and put on his usual dress shoes. It didn’t work.

Shoulda changed his jacket. Not sure which goodwill he got it from but it was ugly (and I have 0 fashion sense).

I can't believe that he changed his shoes - it'd be one thing if he changed them on a normal game night, but if the shoes are part of a promotion for Coaches vs Cancer....

Can you imagine the ration of shit Coach K would get if he changed out of sneakers during Coaches vs Cancer?
