Which pasta do you prefer to cook?

Post by Lavabe » January 30th, 2010, 11:23 am

There are SOOOOO many choices out there. Is one type really better than the other? After all, they're made the same way, right?

I don't want to cook any of them. Eating them is a different story!

I prefer to cook spaghetti due to it's simplicity...but when I want really good pasta I take the time and do something else.

This is a point of contention in our house. I LOVE LOVE LOVE twirling a moutful of spaghetti onto my fork. My wife hates it and always chooses rotini, penne, or ziti. I usually lose. Sometimes I have to assert my authori-tah and go with spaghetti over her objections though.

Too hard it select only one type of pasta.... depends on which sauce will be used, will there be meat or seafood or maybe chopped fresh tomatoes. Some pastas are much better at allowing the sauce to adhere. So many situations, so many combinations.......

Lasagne. For me, it offers more opportunity to do exciting things in the kitchen. Orecchiette is another fun pasta to prepare. Mmmmm carbs.

I voted for wagon wheels, but that was mostly to be goofy. I like lasagne and fusilli.

I voted for angel hair pasta. 4 minutes in boiling water and it's done! When the natives are restless and hungry, speed is the name of the cooking game!

However, the pasta I prefer to eat is a different story. :dinner:

I agree with you. I did pick spaghetti, we use more than other pastas. I also love the small sea shells.

Great poll!

I selected "other," because unless I'm missing something, Manacotti is a pasta. Seriously, it may not be considered a pasta?

Anyway, I make a mean Manacotti. My first name is "Dan," so naturally I call it, "DANACOTTI."

It is indeed a style of pasta. I love it and giant shells. Mmmmmmmmm stuffing.

Seriously, how can you go wrong? I know, let's get some big ass pasta (B.A.P.) cook it, and then let's stuff it full of cheese or meat or spinach or all of those. Then let's cover it in sauce. Then let's bake it.

Oh HELL YEAH!

Wrong thread. This should have been posted in the PASTA SAUCE thread. ;)
