Amazing no one has started a thread on this topic.
This game has the potential of being quite a contest in a bowl season filled with lots of good games. ESPN has been running features all week with anecdotes, observations and whatever else they can come up with. The star addition is a recurring segment based on science applied to analysis of sports and players.
What's your take on this game?

I just want Alabama to win so we get a chance to beat the national champs in WW next year.

I don't know who to pull for. I guess Alabama, though I think Nick Saban is scum. I'm not a fan of Texas in general though, especially since my family consists almost entirely of USC alums.

This game ended up having some unexpected turns which began to appear very early. Alabama started off a bit too slowly and didn't seem as focused as this level of competition requires. Texas looked like they had it together until Colt was injured.... but the first few minutes of a game didn't reveal what the game was going to be like.
It's admirable that the freshman Texas quarterback who came in after McCoy's injury maintained his composure and began to be productive by the second half..... what a tough way to start a varsity play!
I was struck by the way Alabama seemed to be able to vary their level of play to be just above whatever Texas could do. Going into the game I was concerned that all the hype about Alabama's depth, skill, talent, preparation, etc. would have a negative effect on their play.
Alabama's a tough team. Those who think Texas might have beaten them if McCoy hadn't been injured are underestimating how good Bama really is.
Over yonder there's been some talk about how intimidating it will be for Duke to play Alabama next year in Wallace Wade, that our stadium will be filled with more crimson than blue. It's true that Alabama will play the role in football that our men's team does in basketball. It's a great opportunity which can raise the level of play if we don't end up with a lot of injuries.....
