I'm not voting yet...I'm still deciding. My 2 choices are LT and MP1. Both Miles and Lance were solid. Lance continues to impress me with his mid range shots, and his defense is great. Miles just proves his worth on the floor, he makes things happen around him on both ends of the court. Mason wants to be doing what Miles IS doing. Thomas fouls too much; I know for certain that Lance came in the second half for a whopping 5 seconds before having to be replaced when he picked up his 3rd or 4th foul, but he makes good things happen. Miles was good on the fouls, only 2, and only 4 points, but he was a very good presence to have in the game. As I said...tough vote, and I'm still pondering. But those are my two candidates.

Fair enough.

I just can't say enough about Mason Plumlee. Sooner or later someone will call me on it. But I swear, I mean, I've been watching Duke hoops a long time. That dude has a "non-statistical" quality about him right now (as you brought out) that will turn into stats and overall Duke Bad-Assness of an unbelievable quality. If he sticks around, his jersey WILL be retired.

I'm really high on him also. I can see flashes of greatness between freshman mistakes, but the last few games he's really started to turn a corner. I'm sure he'll continue to frustrate us at times this year but he's going to be great. He's missed a number of gimme's - once he settles down he's going to be what we've been missing down low. And how about that 3? Miles has also impressed me this year - he's come a long way.

It looks like Coach K is working the Plumlee's into their roles for next year by pairing them with an established player. Miles tends to play with Lance and Mason with Zoubs. Hopefully next year they can pass on what they've learned to Hairston and Kelly.

I'm also abstaining until tomorrow so I can sleep on my decision. Right now I have it down to Lance and the Plumlee's.

What a difficult decision! What a wonderful dilemma! Lance Thomas played defense so well that an outstanding Iowa State player had a bad night. Miles and Mason Plumlee each continued to show glimmers of the potentially high level of play we all love so. Jon Scheyer had what one of the commentators called an "All America" night.

My decision is that at least three players deserve this award. (I'm glad they all play for Duke!!!)

LT for 30 minutes of good D and continuing to take and make (with improved reliability) that 10-15 ft J.
MP2 could easily get this vote too for his solid effort last PM and that 3 he hit.

I wonder how much of a green light he has from K on those. The first one he took missed pretty badly. Zoubek had the ball at the top of the arc, and instead of anyone defending him, Iowa state ran the other way to cover the wings. He should have taken it just for the hell of it, it was pretty funny to see him all alone with the ball for that long.

CB&B: I was thinking the same thing about how ridiculously open Mason was left for that three. It's like Iowa State decided there was no way they would defend him out there, thinking he couldn't make the shot. It was an odd play to watch!

I also had a sort of random thought. Just wanted to say that at the end of this season, there will be a compulation of all "BeDeviler" winners for the 2009-2010 season. So continuing to vote on this thing will be key.

Should be interesting to see. Right now, for this game, Lance has a good lead. The poll will remain open until the tip of the next game. At that point, the "winner" will be official. I'm a bit surprised to see no votes or mention of Nolan, but that's cool. Democracy and all that.

Positive 'BeDeviler' - Nolan Smith, he filled a void created by some lost offense from Kyle.
Negative "BeDeviler' - Brian Zoubek, who got himself caught out of position with early foul trouble that didn't allow for very much rest allowed for the player he was substitute for. Also, I'm bedeviled by how often his shots get blocked. His rebounding makes up for a lot of ills.

It's so nice to read a thread about Duke basketball that isn't contentious. :D :D
