Office (Word) 2007 Question

Whenever I open Microsoft Word from Office 2007 the program, for whatever reason, creates a 'microsoft' folder in my main document library/folder. This is starting to tick me off as I am getting tired of deleting it and I also dislike software that creates things like that as if we aren't capapble of creating our own files/folders.

Does anyone here know A) why this might be happening and B) how I can prevent it from happening in the future?

I just used Excel and it seems that the folder mentioned in my previous post opens for any Office 2007 program.

Where does Office 2007 think it wants to save stuff (ie your default save folder) that's probably the problem...make sure that is you documents folder

Or perhaps its the temporary file that the program uses while you have an open document. Once you close the doc (and save it in the permanent file) does the MS file go away?

It is saving to my documents folder (my documents 'library' in Windows 7) but I don't want it to create this file and save it anywhere.

Nope, the folder stays there. It also contains sub folders.

The first folder is named 'microsoft'. The next folder is names 'IdentityCRL'. The folder inside that one is named 'production'. That 'production' folder is always completely empty.

Hmmm, I do have Windows Live stuff installed. Thanks for the tip. I'll probably delete all of it as I can't think of any Windows Live stuff that I actually use. I do use Windows Live Mail but can easily find another free email program (they deleted Windows Mail from Windows 7).

everything I've read on the forums points to an issue with windows live...if you don't need it, pitch it...

Let me know if it works!

Thanks Mom, you rock!!!!!!

It seems that it was the Windows Live Office plug-in that was causing the problems. I deleted all of my Windows Live stuff and still had the problem. After deleting that plug-in and rebooting though, everything was fine.

Thanks again.

Curious; what was wrong with the folder(s) being created?

I didn't bother with a free email program. I uninstalled and then reinstalled Office 2007 but didn't install Outlook (I'm not a fan of the Office 2007 version). I then grabbed my copy of Office 2003 and installed only Outlook from that CD so I can use an email program that I like (sort of - I always far preferred Outlook Express but Outlook is better than many others) and still get to use the most up to date versions of all of the other Office programs.

Why were they irritating you? Have you considered writing Microsoft and voicing your concern?

They were irritating me because A) I am rather particular about the way in which my folders etc. are organized and B) I really dislike software that creates things for you as if you are unable to figure it out for yourself (to me that comes across as the developer thinking you are too stupid to figure out how you want your computer organized.

Have you considered writing Microsoft and voicing your concern?
No - but I will bitch at DA and a friend of mine who works for Microsoft.
