Bostondevil's favorite player, Melky Cabrera, a Brave? HUH?

Could the Braves afford to give up on J. Vasquez? Please explain.

Billy Wagner: is he the second coming of Mike Hampton?

Melky will do well in Atlanta. He's proven to be a pretty clutch player. The Melkman delivers :D , as John Sterling was fond of saying. I think I do prefer to have Granderson in center though, so I'll wish the Melkman well and not miss him.

The :D has changed. I like the toothy grin, as is still shown in the menu, much better.

Also, I made it a Braves thread because I figured there were lots of Braves fans here. If this needs to be a "Baseball General" thread, please feel free to edit.

Well, you're a moderator, you could edit it if you wanted to! But leave this as a Braves thread so I don't have to read it again ;)

I have no need to rile all you Yankee haters out there with a Yankee thread. I'll enjoy them in private.

The umps always give the Yankees all the calls! And the Yankees always have the easiest schedule, especiially in inter-league play. Also, they are all elitist snobs and it all starts with thier manager, Joe G., who looks like a possum!

They only won it last year because baseball was down.....watered down talent from too many teams. Lastly, they are slow and very unathletic this year. ;)

Might want to merge this with a thread I started back in spring training:
Atlanta Braves 2010 Thread

In it, I asked whether or not Heyward was for real. At this early point in the season, it indeed looks like he is.

Guilty as charged. I admit to laziness and hunger here. When I posted it, I had a big 'ol Subway sandwich in front of me and the Braves were about to start. It is now 14-2 San Diego, so well, shit. :)

In the future, I shall research first, then post. :(

Snyder's of Hanover's Honey Mustard & Onion Pretzel Pieces are AWESOME!

Fortunately in that game, the Braves averted the shutout because McCann tackled one of the Padres in their own end zone as they started yet another drive, err, inning, to hang an additional TD or FG goal on their hapless asses. Reminds me of some of their performances from the late 70s when we 1st became fans (cough, cough).

Shitty, shitty start to the season. I know we're only a week in, but losing that badly to a Padres team that is not going to be good this year leaves a sour taste, indeed.
On top of that, it's clear yet again that Bobby will not adjust overall strategy to better employ a lineup long on high-average guys, but short on power (I'm talking about the hit-and-run, stealing, etc.). For his whole career, #6 has been among the better clubhouse guys we've ever seen, but a master tactician he is (still) not. Maybe K wants to try baseball once Bobby retires? The seasons are remarkably complementary...
I'm also beginning to tire of waiting for Jair Jurrjens to "break through."

I thought Jair Jurrjens had a strong year last year and would have won an assload more games if he had gotten run support. Even in his first start this year, he got very little run support. Of course, last night would not fit into this category as the Padres crushed most of his pitches halfway to Hawaii.

I still say this is a stronger Braves team that WILL contend this year. I don't often say that. I hope I'm not drinking the Kool-Aid.
