With one day left in the Naughties, will someone please explain (in one sentence or less each) the following:
1) Lost (remember... keep it to one sentence or less)
2) Black-Eyed Peas (the group with Fergie).
3) Chrysler PT Cruiser: why buy one?
4) Hedge funds
5) sex and the city
6) blogging

Thanks,
Lavabe

Here is my take....

1) Lost (remember... keep it to one sentence or less) One of a handful of shows that keep folks attention
2) Black-Eyed Peas (the group with Fergie). Crazy-hot white front singer, crazy looking bandmates.... always a great combo!
3) Chrysler PT Cruiser: why buy one? To look retro! Retro is the new-old-new thing!
4) Hedge funds: "Hedging" your bet, financially, on the security of the world markets/world greed
5) sex and the city: Retro is in
6) blogging: Trade blogging in for the new craze.... tweeting!
Either way, a free forum to express your views, regardless how far out there they may or may not be. Kinda like peeing in the snow... you can participate as long as you do it in your own yard.

1) Lost (remember... keep it to one sentence or less)
A plane crashes on a mysterious island, sucking America into a tormentuous relationship with their television.
2) Black-Eyed Peas (the group with Fergie).
A group mixing political self-importance with lovely lady lumps.
3) Chrysler PT Cruiser: why buy one?
As K68 said, retro is cool; until boxes on wheels became cool, then retro was uncool.
4) Hedge funds
I have no idea, neither did the people who were supposed to have an idea.
5) sex and the city
Your shoes are inadequate and you don't have enough of them.
6) blogging
Blogging allows people to proclaim the stupidest ideas ever imaginable as pure, unadulterated truth.

1) Lost: A captivating story line, diverse characters and JJ Abrams create one of the better one hour dramas on television; beats the hell out of reality television.
2) Black-Eyed Peas: Overrated, self-indulgent beatsters with a lead singer who pees herself on stage; could be worse for pop/mainstream music.
3) Chrysler PT Cruiser: Did you know PT Cruisers are huge in Italy?
4) Hedge funds: If you have to ask, then you can't afford it.
5) sex and the city: And CBaB thought Lost sucked people into a tormentuous relationship with their television.
6) blogging: People finally have an easy-to-use model for getting their thoughts out to the world; think validation.

Just like the millennia wasn't over until Jan 1, 2001, the Naughties aren't over until Jan 1, 2011.

:D

Well, if we're going to be that technical, the millennia weren't over in 2001, but the millennium was. :D

And how shall we refer to the time period between 2011 and 2020?
WHERE is wilson? :D

I won't try to speak to any of the items except for the one about why buy a PT Cruiser. I have one and have been pleased with the comfortable seating, particularly on long trips. It's relatively agile and can get through some smaller spaces which would stop many cars or SUV's. The flexible interior space has allowed me to transport all sorts of things from new TV's to bags of mulch easily and effortlessly. Most importantly is that I can transport four tables, 12 chairs and a tent plus food for a tailgate party and seat three to four guests. Chrysler (Fiat?) is discontinuing the manufacture of this vehicle in the near future, so I'm researching flexible vehicles for the future replacement in a couple of football seasons or so.

I don't particularly enjoy Sex and the City; in fact, I find the characters insufferable, except maybe the Kristen Davis one. But I always thought it was great that this show presents women who are older than 23 as still having a sexual existence. Hollywood is very sexist when it comes to aging.

A favorite blogger of mine has a good discussion of the decade issue I mentioned (does it end today or not), not that I agree with his conclusion.

I'm a little late to this thread but here is my take:

1) Lost (remember... keep it to one sentence or less)
Shitty.
2) Black-Eyed Peas (the group with Fergie).
Shittier.
3) Chrysler PT Cruiser: why buy one?
No idea why anyone would buy one.
4) Hedge funds
Beyond me.
5) sex and the city
Guys aren't supposed to understand this one.
6) blogging
Almost as useless as tweeting.

Aside from Shane, J-Will, & co. winning the NCAA championship, what are the lingering positive images of the Naughties?
