Stevo's big present was the NY trip. I also got him some seriously ugly light blue coasters for his man cave. This is the first time I have ever bought anything tarhole. I have an ulterior motive though; perhaps this will change our sports mojo and have the pendulum swing towards the right and beautiful dark blue!!!
My son Josh and his girlfriend Liz have asked for money to move from Chicago to Wilmington!!!! My fingers are crossed.
Everyone else got cookies!!

I got my mother a scarf and pin from Talbot's, and for my dad I bought him a picture of one of the Red Sox scoring a big run in the 07 world series, I know it was big a run as the team was at home plate. The back of the jersey has our last name on it. I can't wait for him to open the present. When we were in Hawaii we bought some shortbread cookies in different flavors, but left them in the hotel. I had some shipped to me a few weeks ago and am giving them to my parents. I can't wait to see their reaction.
Won't post what I got K68 as we haven't exchanged presents yet.

Tilly and I shall exchange gifts upon her return (so I cannot reveal my gifts to her).
Got my brother the triology of "Back to the Future". Me (& Tilly) got mom a book, a few gospel cd's and a basket of the bath oils and stuff she loves

Our family decided to cease giving gifts this year.... at least the sort bought in stores. We're gathering several times over the holidays and sharing good times and good food. It's certainly made for a joyful Advent season absent the stress of gathering in from the stores.

We stuffed the children's stockings with assorted stuff like earrings, ornaments, candy, pencils/pens and, this year, a small book with their Grandpa's life in pictures. And, of course, like every year since they were born, an orange or an apple in the bottom of their stockings. What a great idea/tradition.
Their trip to NYC was their biiiig present.

I gave Sam some socks, a Starbucks gift card, a U2 CD, a Beatles CD, a Duke T-shirt, and cash for the designer duds that he thinks I'm too un-hip to purchase for him.
I gave Mom a black twinset from Talbot's. I also gave her four plates and four bowls and a mug in her new everyday china pattern. Sam gave her one of his senior portraits.
I can't write what I gave to Christian because he hasn't opened his gifts yet. Another 10 days. . .

My law partners and office staff got a jar of raspberry jalapeno jam with cream cheese and tortilla chips. I also gave those to Miss Fran, my Aunt Betty, my cousin Sarah Beth, my brothers and SILs.
I gave a set of Christmas placemats to my brothers and SILs.
I gave Target gift cards to my nieces and nephews, and one of my nieces who knows how to write out a Christmas wish list got a pair of heelies for her American Girl doll from Aunt Cathy.

I bought Sweetie Pie the latest Robert Jordan book and a prepaid cell phone with unlimited calling, email, and text for $45 a month. I got the stepsons the same phone, and paid their first month. They all got the phones early and have been calling, texting, and interneting everbody they know. I gave my mom the smoker, and am cooking the turkey for dinner on it, plus got her a barbecue cookbook. My stepdad I gave a painting of the sunset up here at their place.
My dad's birthday is today..so for his birthday I had this photo enlarged that I took in SF and framed it.

It was Mrs. DD's idea. She is indeed a good one.

I gave Mrs. Ozzie a black pearl and diamond ring. Caught her completely off guard!

I gave Mrs. DD an award-winning, framed original water color, signed by the artist himself, of some flowers and butterflies. She selected it herself from one of the local artists in Morehead City about 2 weeks ago. Hmm, wonder who that might be? ;)

I dunno, but I bet she wasn't as surprised as diamonds and pearls!
Very cool on the present to Mrs. Ozzie, Mr. Ozzie; and to DD I'm more than honored that Mrs. DD selected her gift herself from what I had to offer.

I have a friend that does this too. I'm going to suggest it to the Mate for the future. There are still kids around the family to buy for, but between us, there's nothing I need that I wouldn't rather just get for myself sometime later.

My dad absolutely loves the picture of "him" with the Red Sox. He's been making comments like "ahh, the good ole days", "my drinking buddies, we're getting ready for spring training". I think that is the best present I've ever gotten him, and I'm absolutely tickled he loves it so much.
My favorite part of Christmas is finding the perfect present, and seeing how much the recipient enjoys it. When we finally sat down to open presents, I had my parents open theirs from me first as I was so excited to see their reaction. When people say it is better to give than to receive, I think this what it truly means.
