Last night was the Christmas Eve spaghetti meal. Tonight at my brother's house I've heard that we'll have ham, gourmet potatoes, broccoli casserole, fruit salad, nibbles, rolls and dessert. My sister, Sister Woman, is making pineapple upside down cake as her contribution. My mother is making deviled eggs if she feels up to it. (She's had a bad cold for the last week.) I had offered to make whipped sweet potatoes, but was told on Wednesday to make a lima bean and corn casserole.

When I host a gathering Sunday, the menu will include some garlic butter marinated roast chicken, spinach souffle, baked apples with cranberries, New Orleans Bean and Corn Casserole and cloverleaf rolls. The dessert table will feature red velvet cake with butter cream frosting and garnished with coconut, assorted baby cakes and petit fours plus a choice of peppermint or spumoni ice cream. Hot beverages will include dark roast coffee or a choice of teas.

I made a ham, a cheese ball, and sweet potato casserole. Erica made spinach and artichoke dip, cookies, two types of pound cake, oreo bites, thick mints, and broccoli and cheese casserole. Maw-Maw (her mother) made her from scratch yeast rolls. We're doing okay for food. ;)

We had a leisurely brunch over at Mom's. We had sausage/egg/cheese casserole, cantaloupe, fresh pineapple, cinnamon rolls and coffee, and then opened presents.

Turkey, ham, 2 sweet potato casseroles, mashed potatoes, 2 types of stuffing/dressing, whole berry cranberry sauce, cranberry jello salad, broccoli casserole, gravy, canned corn, steamed carrots. Water. No beer or wine.

Can't figure out what my next action is gonna be: dessert or a medium length food coma.

Oh my, Honey Baked Ham and Turkey, Salad, Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans with Cashews/Cooked Tomato slices/some kind of oil on them (really good), Deviled Eggs, I made that Artichoke/Parmesan Cheese Dip with Fresh Italian Bread Loaf. Lots of fresh fruits and nuts. Had an ESB from England as a cocktail drink (This was very good!!!) and a lil wine at dinner and then water the rest of the afternoon after opening presents with everyone. The desserts were great looking but I was too full to participate (snicker doodle cheesecake, pumpkin pie, some other kind of pie, lots of chocolates everywhere, my goodness).... My sister cooked for like 20/30 and there was me, my mom, my dad, my sis and her hubby (5 adults) and my 2 kiddos (who ate like lil birdies). I am wishing that I would have had time to get some of those left overs! Soo good, but way too much food and not enough room in my tummy to hold it (although looking at it about now :D , you might think differently!! :-o :-o :)) :)) :)) :)) ) I'm ready to hit the sack! #:-s

I'm tired of turkey and ham, so 'Son of' went out yesterday and called to ask what size Rib-eye roast I wanted. I said to get something around 12 to 14 inches long, cut from the large end. He comes home with half a Rib-eye.
So...the Mate thawed a turkey and didn't cook it. :twitch:
We heated a Honey Baked ham. Selected healthy and nutritious sides were: potato salad, mac n'cheese, green beans(DelMonte), rice, yeast rolls
Family doctor says we aren't getting enough starch. :twitch:

My SIL served lasagna, no meat or yes meat (so the little signs said :) ). She bought the lasagna because it caught her eye while she was in the grocery store and figured it was easier than really cooking stuff.

OK, what's with the spaghetti dinner tradition several of you have mentioned? I've never heard of that.

I find the steak (tenderloin, rib roast, roast beef, etc) tradition to be interesting, too.
