I have always loved all things aviation and am halfway through getting my pilot's certificate (I ran out of money a couple of years ago during lessons). It WILL happen though.

As an aviation buff, I must say I'm quite dissapointed in the design of this plane. I know engineers could care less about the looks and are more concerned with performance, but I'm just speaking from my eyeballs. The plane simply looks like a glorified 737. Standard fuselage with one engine mounted on each wing. In short, the plane looks boring. At least their recently launched 777 had a massive wingspan that offered somewhat of a unique look from the rest of the fleet.

Give me the days of the L-1011, the DC-10, the 727. Planes that offered a variety of design.

Damn this plane. Damn it all to hell.

Okay, kidding. Do NOT damn the plane. But I do wish they'd come up with a more fodingulated design.

You should check out the DreamLifter, a plane specifically built to ferry parts from farflung factories to Washington state, for the Dreamliner.

My favorite plane was the BF109 - although the RAF Spitfire looked pretty freakin' cool! I want to see the inside of the new Boeing before I judge it.

YES! I have been to this site! I am a HUGE fan of the B-17. It is my favorite plane from WWII. Very "sexy."

They had an airshow here in Atlanta about three years ago. I was playing softball (left center field). I heard a deep roaring sound of multiple props. I looked up and a B-17 flew right over the ballfield at low altitude. I was like a little kid, and for that moment, the softball game meant NOTHING to me. I told the left fielder, "Look! That's a B-17!" He looked at me like, "So?" It made my day.

Other WWII plane favorites: SBD Douglas Dauntless dive bomber, F4U Coursair (sp?), P51 Mustang, Hellcat.

One of my brothers-in-law knows the family that started this. When we visited, they let the kids try out the riveter.

It is very cool to go visit the airfield and hear the stories about WWII vets that have visited and the stories they have told. One gentleman came with either his son or grandson and told stories about his time in the aircraft. It was the first time the son/grandson had ever heard that the vet had to jump (or be pushed to jump) out of the aircraft after it was shot.

I loved the L-1011. I only got to fly on a few of them, but they were great. The engine in the tail, and super spacious cabin. What got me clued into it was reading "The Ghost of Flight 401" as a kid. That was one L-1011 you didn't want to be on, but I always looked for ghosts from that flight on the few I flew on.
