Bad Mood music

Okay, so I really wanted to listen to some pounding, driving rock must tonight on the drive home - something to help me musically work out the aggressions of the day. But, I couldn't bring any songs to mind at the moment.

So, help me - what songs would be on your, "I just had a shitty day" playlist?

At home, with my music collection in front of me, I come up with these, for starters:

3AM, Matchbox 20
Mysterious Ways, U2
Yes I Am, Melissa Etheridge
19th Nervous Breakdown, Rolling Stones
Anna Molloy, Incubus
Hella Good, No Doubt
Land of Canaan, Indigo Girls
Captain Jack (Live), Billy Joel

Good driving rock, as in music that's fun to drive to and get your blood pumping? I suggest J Geils Band "First I Look At The Purse". Or something from The Doors, like "Break On Through", "I Love Her Madly or "Hello, I Love You"!

Tilly's suggestion is good also! I always have that in my car.

Just about any song by Tool and/or Nine Inch Nails.

I'd go with my "Garage" playlist on playlist.com. :-)
Not everyone's cup of tea, but there is a healthy mix of old and new garage rock.

Hope you're day is better!

Am I trying to cheer myself up from this shitty day or do I want to wallow in self pity?

If I'm trying to cheer myself up:
'Walking on Sunshine' - Katrina and the Waves
'Cynical Girl' - Marshall Crenshaw
'Soak Up the Sun' - Sheryl Crow
Any upbeat Beatles song
'Love Fool' - The Cardigans

Wallowing in self-pity:
'Crazy Mixed-Up Kid' or 'Strangers When We Meet' - The Smithereens
'Hey Jude' - The Beatles
'Reconsider Me' or 'When the Heartache Comes' - Warren Zevon
Anything by Patsy Cline
'Ferry Cross the Mersy' - Gerry and the Pacemakers (Did I spell that right?)
'Jack of All Parades' - Elvis Costello
'The Prettiest Girl in Camden Town' - Gary somebody, the album cover is red. I'll look it up and post his last name later.

Bostondevil's name reminded me of a few: Anything from Boston's first three albums, a few in particular:

1. Long Time
2. Don't Look Back
3. Party
4. Rock n' Roll Band
5. Cool the Engines

P.S. Nothing by the Carpenters

I heard an interview with Richard Carpenter the other day. I was surprised and thought he came across like a real douchebag.

Part of me is very happy, BUT the other part of me knows that lately he has suffered from Mike Hampton disease. #-o

Agreed. Could be a great pick-up but glad they only signed him to a one-year deal.

"High School Never Ends" by Bowling for Soup always makes me laugh. At my former job this particular song used to pop up on my play list at highly appropriate times. "The B!tch is Back" by Elton John is another goodie that used to come up on random shuffle mode at very opportune moments. Believe me, it's very difficult to NOT laugh when you're working away in the lab, your supervisor walks in, and either of the two previously mentioned songs starts playing on your iPod. Maybe it's only funny if you've experienced something like my former job.

You mean like Weird Al's "Eat It," for Bad "Mood Music?"
