Tiger Woods was in a serious car wreck last night outside his home. He hit a fire hydrant and then a tree in his Caddy Escalade about 2:30 a.m. Apparently the air bags did not deploy. Other than listed as "serious", there are no further details available, even now, 12 hours later.

Heeling vibes to Tiger. }}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}]

It probably wasn't that serious if the bags did not deploy. He's already been released from the hospital in good condition.

ESPN announcers during the Nebraska/Colorado game said "released with facial lacerations."

Sounds like alcohol was involved.

The ESPN crawl said that alcohol was not involved.
CNNSI also quotes the police as saying that alcohol was not involved.

The airbags deploy for any accident over 30mph (according to the news story I saw) so it couldn't have been a serious accident because they didn't deploy. Apparently, he had pulled out of his driveway and then hit the fire hydrant before making contact with the tree.

A) Elin sent him to WalMart for more diapers =))
B) Elin had beaten the heck out of him in the house, then, after the accident, continued using the same golf club to smash the rear window of the Escalade and beat him some more...

I go with answer B.

An accident at 2:30 in the morning in your own driveway? And you hit a tree and a fire hydrant?

The police and CNN and ESPN and everyone else may say that there was no EtOH involved, but I'm still not convinced.

CathyCA: Totally agreed. Not judging. Just looking at the context and thinking, "....it's a picture perfect alcohol-related scenario." And they are being very hush-hush on the Tiger front. Quite suspicious indeed.

According to the very upstanding journalism site TMZ, reports that Tiger had had an affair apparently caused his wife to become enraged, and she was the cause of the facial injuries. Which is kinda what I was suspecting--the airbag didn't deploy, so he wouldn't have gotten hurt in the accident. I was figuring, she was screaming and whacking him with the club, he jumps in the car, peels out, and *bang* into the hydrant/tree, and that sounds like it may be just how it happened. He's now apparently considering buying her some very expensive jewelry. Naughty Tiger! [-x

TMZ usually gets it right--way before any of the other news outlets even begin to report on it.

So Elin was chasing him with a golf club? Cue Carrie Underwood's Before He Cheats. . .

If they do divorce Elin will be #2 on the PGA money list every year for the rest of Tiger's career.
