The rain mostly held off here, apart from some occasional spittle. The place was a madhouse. Apparently every kid in Durham was there today. The stroller traffic was atrocious. Thank the good Lord Katie is so well behaved, I can't imagine if she were acting like some of the other kids. And I'm so happy we were members, there must have been 50 people in line to pay to get in. We walked right by. Some guy walked up to the membership counter "so if I join the museum today, can I skip this whole line?"
Did he get to skip the line?
She said he would be able to, so I assume he joined.

Adult admission is $12.50 and annual membership for two is $85 (our Katie would get in free). So we just need to go four-ish times per year to make it worth it. If you have a little kid anywhere near Durham, it's a no-brainer.
Plus, if you visit other "sister" museums, you get in at a reduced rate or for free, IIRC. We did that with the Indiana Children's Museum one year with our brood and managed to visit there (twice), one in Raleigh/Ralegh, the one in Derm, the Richmond Children's Museum, one in SF and probably 1-2 others that my wife might remember but I can't recall at this time.

I took the floor, Grant joined me. I didn't take the couch that he abandoned. I'm now on the netbook.

I still have Wheach in the fridge. I'm saving it for company.
Most people say that is it is the intellect which makes a great scientist. They are wrong: it is character.

Over 100 posts over the last 24 hours. Put like that, it doesn't seem like very many.

CameronBornAndBred wrote:My stepson bought himself a PS3 over the weekend, and two games, so I'm watching him play in the living room now. He was nervous I'd be upset when I found out he bought it, I told him I thought it was awesome. He bought it with his own money that he's been making at his job, which he has now had for just over 2 months (he works at Texas Steak House). I think it's great that he has been able to reward himself, plus keep a bunch of money in the bank. (He's getting his license soon, my requirement is that he pays for his insurance). Anyways, just giving him a shout out. (The PS3 is pretty cool!)
Chris - that is AWESOME! I applaud the way you encouraged him and acknowledge his hard work! I too had a similar situation recently with a youngster that was about $20 bucks short of buying a Nintendo DS which he really wanted and although I could have spotted him the $20, we discussed it briefly and he decided to earn the money and buy the game when he had enough money! I was so proud of him and so was his mom! His Mom did a great job instilling values and I think kids are soo amazing as they remind us of things all the time, unintentionally! :-bd :-bd

Don't waste your time. Like the saying goes, "you'd be arguing with a fool and he has far more experience than you." (or something like that)

We're outta here and will try to brave the elements and begin our drive back to Raleigh/Ralegh/Raw-lee/Rah-lee/Rally tonight.

Did I tell anyone that it's raining sideways? Again.
