Re: Foods I don't understand
Tomatoes have to be vine ripened, fresh from the garden to be really good. As for fried green tomatoes, bad ones are nasty. Good ones are yummy. They have to be seasoned just right and served with ranch dressing. Canned asparagus - nasty. Steamed or sauteed fresh asparagus - yummy.
Speaking of ranch dressing, bottled ranch dressing - blech. It has to be freshly made from the Good Seasons mix. The stuff in the bottle has the most foul after-taste ever. Not sure what it is, but it's nasty.

In the strange/exotic foods category: fried frog legs (not bad at all), squirrel (good or bad, depending on the age of the squirrel and how it's prepared), rabbit (okay), raccoon (blech! stringy and greasy), fried snapping turtle (eh).

One of the few things I don't care to eat is turnips. My dad used to love them. They always seemed like potatoes gone awry.
Now if you offer some fine, sweet chow chow with just a hint of heat, that's OK.

Yum! My neighbors growing up had a huge garden - we picked veggies from their at their request (begging might be a better word) Nothing better than a summer day standing in the garden with a salt shaker picking a ripe tomato off the vine warm from the sun and eating it like an apple (with salt) if there was a floating on a cloud smilie I would use it here. <sigh>
Pease are pretty darn good straigtht of the vine too!

Agree with you. I'm currently overwhelmed with Jelly Bean grape tomatoes - but they sure are good!devildeac wrote:Love 'em with a pinch of salt and a dash of crushed black pepper. Ymm, tomatoes.CathyCA wrote:Raw tomatoes

I am sprout neutral. I don't buy them, or add them when I cook. I don't avoid them either. If they are on something I'm eating I'll eat them...if they aren't I won't miss them.

Eww! Tomato juice also falls in the "raw tomato" category. Funny thing is that I WILL eat fresh salsa. I guess that's because the tomatoes have been processed with the onion, lime juice, beans, cilantro and corn.[/quote]
Not a fan of tomato juice or tomato sandwiches, but I love me a Five Guys burger with bacon, cheese, lettuce, onion, and tomato. I LOVE a good tomato on a burger.

No brunchgate bloody mary for you. Good thing mimosa's will be there. (Not this one, we actually have to wait until a real brunchgate)CathyCA wrote: Eww! I hate overcooked veggies. Especially cabbage & any leafy green veg. I love collards but if mushie, yuk. I like white rice but much prefer brown rice. I don't like instant rice.

It's only a real brunchgate if it actually involves brunch. This one is a tailgate. Hopefully all the foods present will be understood and enjoyed!Very Duke Blue wrote:So, this is a fake BG?
