I really really really want to write it about interviewing the child slave over Christmas break last year, but I'm having trouble keeping it an "essay" and not a "book". As of right now, I have two pages (technically there is no limit) written, and I JUST got to the actual interview part. By the time I finish it AND evaluate the experience and how it has impacted my life it's sure to be up around four pages. Ugh.
I am also applying for sure to Wake, App, State, UNC, UVA, and Berkeley. Thank the Blue Devil for the Common App though, it's probably saving me a good 3 to 4 essays, including Wake's essay for which the prompts are all a much more difficult.
And recommendations are different for Duke as well. Instead of hearing about the quality student that I am, they want to hear about how I learn, think, and grow.
I would love to read your essay when it's finished. Would it help if you looked at it as a synopsis with a plan to expand it at a later time?
Probably. I think I'll do that when I work on it again... And I will most certainly let you read it!

There are a lot of people around here who are well qualified to read over/edit that essay for you.
Yeah!

It won't hurt that you're a bit of a legacy.

Speaking of PITT, I meant to ask you the other day, how are things going?

Congratulations, and best of luck! From one early decision candidate to another, you just made a great decision. Hopefully, the Duke Admissions Office will make a similar great decision!
In the meantime,
;)

Guess that means your application is not far from my home and office. Sending vibes and prayers that all goes well.
And, a few

for good measure.

The hard part is getting my second recommendation sent in for Duke (I asked my teacher to send it in by October 5th...
![Sad :(](./images/smilies/2.gif)
) and my counselor stuff. My counselor is seriously.... Maybe technology dumb is a better term than retarded. She can't find her password for the CommonApp site, so I have so send all of that stuff in on paper, which takes about 4x the effort and I don't know if it actually got there or not!!!

A Deac? You wanna be Deac? Haha, I worked in Winston with a lot of Deacs and got to go to a couple b-ball games. It seemed to me a decent place to go to school.

If sending paper by mail, send it so that whomever receives must sign a receipt.... you can do this with the US Postal Service or UPS.
