Lord Willin and the Creek Don't Rise - Casita Brewing - 9.3 % - Baltic Porter - "Brewed with a mix of German and Belgian malts" (transitioning from last virtual pub to the next)

Fuse may not like this one, but anyone else who likes Baltic porters would. Hell fuse might even like this one.

Black pour with rising bubbles that form a gorgeous tan head from the inside out. Roasty coffee and rich dark chocolate nose.

Tons of flavor with light porter body. Roast coffee (but good, not bitter and annoying), then dark chocolate all with no adjuncts. The rich malt flavor remains nicely after the finish.

Highly drinkable.

Low Cat 3, bar cleared easily. :ymapplause:

Nevergonnagetit³-The Veil Brewing Co.

Local for the beer mule

Credit-accfanfrom1970; a triple thank you for this triple berry gose
Style-^^^^ (but it really doesn't look/taste/smell like beer)
Format-pint can
Stemware-RVA beer requires an RVA (Hardywood) teku
Appearance-mixed berry smoothie (purplish red); moderate purple head
Nose-a summer time berry salad
Mouthfeel-this really can't be beer; a lot of fruity and some small chunkiness
Tastes-an absolute multiple berry explosion; hint of tart at the end
Adjuncts-raspberries, boysenberries and blackberries
IBU-5?
ABV-5.3% (wait, this had alcohol in it)
Overall impression-another amazing Veil creation
Ymm, Beer rating-near top of the ladder cat 3; world class concoction

Even after posting review of dozens, nay hundreds, maybe even a few thousand beers (), I'm still intimidated typing about a world class beer.

Trappist Rochefort 10-Brasserie de Rochefort (or should that be Abbaye N.-D DeSaint-Remy)

Belgium is not local.

Credit-Virtual Pub theme and my credit card
Style-authentic Trappist quadrupel ale
Format-330 ml bottle
Best before end: L.29.06.2025 08:04:55
Stemware-large Ommegang tulip (because I don't own an "official" Rochefort glass)
Appearance-medium/dark brown; foamy, tan head that "laces" very nicely
Nose-brown sugar and dark, dried fruits
Mouthfeel-sultry and alluring
Tastes-oh, so many, including dates, figs, raisins, dark caramel/brown sugar, herbal-icious, cherries and a hint of pepper
IBU-maybe 30
ABV-11.3%; more than dangerous
Overall impression-still stunning even after not sipping one for a decade or more; more than deserving of its lofty rating
Ymm, Beer rating-top rung of the cat 3 ladder; whoever has one of these for Saturday will be in for an amazing treat

Interesting find in a sampler pack today.

In general, I enjoy Saranac brews and used to get their quarterly sampler packs all the time, but they've had a tendency the last few years to pack them full of low ABV brews (under 5%), and those are almost never to my liking. But their current winter sampler has none below 5.5 so I pulled the trigger. It's their Winter pack, and on top of the bottles is a card. At first I thought it was some kind of "Christmas Card" thing, but it's an explanation about the bottles in the box.
Dear Saranac Friend,
COVID-19 has limited our brown glass availability - so we had to go "holiday green" in order to bring you our beloved Saranac 12 Beers.
It's been a long time since I've had green bottles in my fridge.

Interesting, especially considering how big a volume brewer Saranac is.

Is this the pack that includes their Caramel Porter?
Might be my favorite Saranac beer.

Nope, and I'm mildly surprised that's not in here. I like that one, too. The only dark beer in it (which I haven't tried yet) is the Winter Warmer. But since it's listed as new, I'm guessing that's why it's in there instead of the porter.
Listed as featuring "5 different malts and a blend of cinnamon and ginger for a flavorful mix of Christmas cookie-like spices and rich maltiness".
5.8 ABV - 25 IBUs. I'll let you know how that one goes.

"Cookie-like". HA! C'mon down, Santa Claus

Money quote from the below article:

The Coronavirus has impacted all of us in every unfortunately way imaginable, but it’s also led to an incredibly enormous surplus of beer.

Also, does recycled Budweiser mean what I think it means?

Format-330 ml bottle (another aluminum tree saved)
Stamped on label-19:51 L18F20
Stemware-Gouden Carolus chalice (not from a monastery)

Fullsteam 9 Volt Cascade
Sour IPA

Zero head, flat pour.

Light pine nose with a bit of sweet n sour sauce.

The cascade hops are a bit dissonant.
There’s a quality sour base and a somewhat piney bitter finish.

I’m guessing this will have strong appeal for some.

A fine beer, perhaps one I won’t rush to revisit.

Skol! 🍻

Actually, the deeper I have gotten into the glass, the more I am enjoying this.

I’m glad I have one left in the fridge. I swear there’s a black hole in there, beer just keeps disappearing.

Marvelroast
Founders
Imperial Golden Ale with coffee, cocoa nibs, vanilla, and milk sugar.
ABV: 8%
IBUs: 20

Golden amber color, with lots of suspended white flecks.
Description reads like an iced latte. Aroma bears that out.
I came into this expecting it to be sweeter than it actually was. Feels a little "boozy" on the finish.
I'd take this over a Starbucks frappa-whatever any day. Cheaper, too :)
High cat 2/low cat 3 range. Have 3 more bottles to decide which it is.
I had to read this twice to convince myself you were not reviewing a stout.

There are a few breweries that do the golden stout concept really well.

Stone was the first I remember trying.

The Salty Turtle Betio blonde from Topsail was a really fun coffee blonde ale.

New Holland does Dragon''s Milk White, though it pours a bit darker than the Marvelroast. Barrel aged and only 6% ABV.
