Chimay Gold:

Picked one up this morning. I'll let you know what I think! It "only" rates an 87 beer advocate...

That's quite interesting as I'd have thought, with its low ABV, it might be a monastery beer only, brewed by monks for monks' sustenance only and not for public sale to raise funds for the abbey.

I believe I read that for a long time it was just their "table beer" but people kept sneaking it out and selling it on the black market so they just took it public.

Fine Creek Golden Barrel Aged Sour

First, very cool 500ml bottle.

Crystal clear bright gold pour.

Apple cider vinegar and grape nose.

Sweet, sour, bright acid on the tongue.

Very vinous.

Remarkable beer.

Pretty sure this is a Nrrvous selection from the Compass Rose Brew Crew.

Thank you, and skol! 🍻

Vasen
Everything Floats on Guava and Passionfruit

A fruit beer that doesn’t look like a smoothie?
What sorcery is this? :wizard:

A wonderful, super sweet passionfruit nose.

First sip will take you directly to the tropics.

Guava, passionfruit burst on your tongue like a fresh tropical fruit salad.

Another outstanding Compass Rose Brew Crew thank you is in order.

Skol! 🍻

Vasen isn’t as popular as Veil and some of the others in Scott’s Addition, but they have a great space and always have 1/2 dozen fruits and sours on tap that are usually very good. Glad you enjoyed!

Ardent Sweet Potato and Sage Saison

The nose is sage, sage, and, did I mention, sage?

This would be a great beer with Italian food.

Herbal beer done right is so enjoyable.

Complemented a North Carolina barbeque dinner quite nicely.

Earthy, rustic, with a musty saison finish.

While I have only had a few, Ardent makes great beer.

Thanks accfanfrom1970!

Skol! 🍻

Never!! I always have one-ish each night leading up to VP unless I'm on call. I've hidden the reviews on CT during the week and then posted them OY whenever the beertender opens the doors on the day of VP. Looks like this month, I'll have to "hide" my reviews OY =)) and then copy/paste them here whenever the LoveNinja opens the doors on :occasion-happyhalloween:.

I don't remember. I had 4 on my calendar but that could have been an arbitrary place-holder.

Looking at the ABV of my Trappist selections: 6.9, 7.5, 9.2, 9.5, 11.3
Probably not a good idea to have those all on the same day.
