I had the hearings on in the background, again, and just noticed Judge Barrett opining on what the hearing should be about. So as I understand it, then, Judge Barrett thinks it is ethically responsible for her to tell Senators how to do their jobs, but ethically impossible for her to tell them how she would do her own after they do theirs. How did we get to this place?

Probably my mistake for listening in the first place.

She has had a few slips. No huge ones, and I don't think many people would do better after sitting there for a few days getting grilled on a wide variety of topics and having people come after you pretty hard. But she has at time been a bit patronizing. A few of my gay friends on Facebook were very upset with her using the term "sexual preference" as if your sexuality is a choice.

I listened to much of the first few days but between having other things to do and running out of steam, I didn't bother today. People are going to hear what they wanted to hear. It seems like the Dems didn't do any major damage to themselves, so that's a good thing. It further convinced me what jerks most of the Republicans are, particularly Graham. I know some relatively moderate, anti-Trump Republicans like Sasse but he also did not come across well either - he was taking shots at Democrats left and right.

Trying so hard not to get too excited:

"Across the country, Democratic enthusiasm is propelling an enormous wave of early voting"

From the article: “Are you seeing the same thing I’m seeing?” asked one Republican strategist in Georgia who spoke on the condition of anonymity to speak candidly, when shown the numbers. “This state is blue.”

Absolutely. Too much chicanery out there.

I voted today, no line at all. But I had a secret sauce. Hooray for me!

Who's winning?
The Bears.

People, you need to share this video with everyone you know. Especially the Trumpers that you are still in touch with.

The depth of corruption in the Trump Administration is staggering. Just when you thought you couldn't be shocked anymore.

Government agencies basically refusing to respond to Freedom of Information Act requests.

Now that you know what to do, voting tomorrow should go much more smoothly for you :D

Perhaps I am a little slow, but I hadn't really focused on the fact that if you vote early, it will reduce the line on election day for others. So if that marginal voter (hopefully one who supports the same person you do) who might have been discouraged by very long lines sees a slightly shorter line, they might stick around and vote.

Early voting in NY starts next week so I am trying to strategize when it is best to go - likely mid-morning on a weekday, but not on the first day. The location is not too convenient for me but it could be a lot worse.

I'd guess that's true, but I'd still expect lines on election day to be much longer than other days. We showed up thirty minutes before the polls opened, there were only half a dozen or so in front of us. By the time we left, the line was winding around the parking lot. There will be more polling stations open on the 3rd than there are for early voting, so hopefully that will help.

Side note, we took a camping trip to rural Virginia this weekend. If you live in one of those counties and don't pay attention to polls, you are likely expecting a Trump landslide. Thousands of Trump signs/flags, everywhere. Of course, in those counties, there are only thousands of people. I did see a few Biden signs, which is a few more than I expected to see.
