My problem with 9F is the origin. Some folks here are not allowed where it originated. I never have a problem with GTHC. :ymdevil:

I'm no longer allowed over yonder where 9F originated (I don't know if anyone else here is in a similar situation) but I don't have any problem with the name as I was around there when it came into being. The only potential problem I can see with that as a name is that some new members we might pick up might not get it (anyone from over there will get it but anyone who doesn't come to us via that place won't).

I'm here at the lake painting and thinking and painting and thinking....and I just remembered a story of a patch of ground out in the county someplace with a very intriguing legend attached to it. The story is that it's a circle of Earth in a clearing in the woods where the faint of heart should never enter. Nothing will grow in the patch of dirt because it's where the Devil paces around when agitated. They say it's haunted by the Devil and you should only enter if you are on very good terms with him. It's called "The Devil's Stomping Ground." I've had several "good ol' boys" tell me of instances where fire shot up from the center of the patch before their very eyes. And in one instance one of them got too close and was knocked off his feet by some force unseen. They say if you dare go out there you should leave the motor running in your pickup in case you need to get out fast! (Of course, I've not been able to ascertain how much firewater has ever been consumed prior to witnessing this phenomenon.) Have any of you other locals ever heard tell of this spot?

At any rate, The Devil's Stomping Ground sounds like a cool chat room name suggestion to me.
Love, Ima

I like that (Devil's stomping ground), but here's my take on the poll / name. Lots of votes have been cast, and recast, and new names have been suggested. In fact the leader is a name suggested after the fact. So if we keep throwing new names out there, one will never be decided on. Babies are lucky, only one or two people choose their names, and that's still a hell of a process. We have several people choosing a name, and therefore it's even more taxing of a process. Even "crazietalk" was chosen by committee, although luckily we didn't have a poll for it. We'd still be voting.
For now, (at least for when the poll closes) I'm going with the winner. It's a fair process that will never please everyone, but still sounds a whole lot better than "Ajax Chat". If any of y'all like Ima's suggestion better than what is up there now, then 14 of y'all better say so before the end of the day. :((

edit. I replaced Card Gym with Devil's Stomping Ground, moved closing of the voting until Tuesday. That will be the last edit.

I'm still sticking with windsorlson, Dope, and The Blue Room, but will gladly switch from the Blue Room to GTHC.

I'd also change it to something simple, like HELL. ;)

Anything will be better than Ajax Chat. :ymapplause:

EDIT: I submitted this before CBaB's edit about changing Card Gym.

How about "Devil's Dancehall"? ;)

That was one of the NC Ghost tales they told us in school when I was growing up. I always loved that story. I can think of quite a few light blue idiots who need to stay the hell out of The Devil's Stomping Ground! :ymdevil:

Wasn't there a Hardy Boys book about the Devil's Stomping Ground?

Had to go with 'Section 21'.
It's only rational, just like 'The 19th Hole' or 'The 11th Frame'.

Me FOUR! (well, after windsorilson of course) I like the Dope Shop too - because I remember it - but alas I'm afraid that will cause search engine hits from characters we may not want hanging around (not that I am, in principle, opposed to self medication using herbal remedies)

Was a great late addition idea. You win a non-existant crazietalk t-shirt!
