7-5 is my prediction.
I'd be happy with that, as long as there are 8 honest refs on the field when we play the cheats. Nah, who am I kidding (effing acc).
Eight honest refs? that reminds me of the joke about why you can't have a manger scene in DC. There's no way you'll find three wise men there.

Good news:
https://247sports.com/college/duke/arti ... 62973/amp/
"Injuries have defined Pogorelc's career to date after he was considered one of the Top 20 offensive tackles in the country out of high school. As a member of the class of 2022, the Chantilly (VA) High standout was rated as a four-star prospect and the No.19 tackle in America by 247Sports.com. He picked the Cardinal over offers from Michigan, Virginia, Arizona State, Duke, Illinois, Indiana, NC State, North Carolina, Pittsburgh, Purdue, Rutgers, Tennessee, and UCLA among others."
Let's hope he can reach this potential while remaining injury free.

Sahakian is from Cornell. According to Adam Rowe, he is rehabbing a knee injury and will redshirt in 2024. He is now listed at 328 pounds.
Schon is from Holy Cross. He was first team All Patriot League in 2022 and 2023.

My bad. Schon was second team in 2023, first team in 2022.

We must have a Patriot League to Duke pipeline.
Mike Barr, another first team PL O lineman, has announced he is transferring to Duke. He was previously at Lafayette.

I’m enjoying hearing about these OL transfers. Games are won in the trenches.

More enjoyment for Bob:
From TDD yesterday:
“Zachary Franks OL transfer from Northwestern has committed to Duke.”
Projected to be a starter but I’ve got no other info WRT ht/wt/years of eligibility remaining.

From the Northwestern portal in/out page via another bulletin board:
"Zachary Franks started the 2023 season opener against Rutgers. (AP)
Status: Graduate
Years remaining: Two
Northwestern’s offensive line lost some of its depth when senior tackle Zachary Franks entered the portal on Jan. 16. Franks played in 24 games in his Wildcat career. He earned the starting right tackle job coming out of camp in 2023 and made his first career start against Rutgers. But he was replaced as the starter by Josh Thompson the following week and never made another start. Franks, who battled injuries throughout his career, was a big-time get for the Wildcats out of Baltimore (Md.) Gilman School in the Class of 2019. He had 32 offers in all, from all Power Five conferences. He first committed to Penn State before flipping to the Wildcats a week later in August of 2018.

I can't help but read that in the Wallace Wade announcer's voice.

Happy First Day of April from Duke Football!
Duke Athletics announced Monday its plan to update the playing surface at Brooks Field at Wallace Wade Stadium.
The Blue Devils will install artificial grass in the color of Duke Blue beginning in May. The project is estimated to take two months to complete and will debut Friday, Aug. 30, when the Blue Devils welcome Elon for their season opener.

The Spring transfer portal has opened (as of yesterday) for football. It runs from April 16th through the 30th. With practice ending this weekend, keep an eye out on movement either direction. Duke players should have a better idea of if and how they'll fit into Diaz's system, and the coaching staff will have a better idea on what holes need filled.

Folks on The Devils Den estimating 10-15 slots need to be filled for 2024.
