Mrs. Ozzie has been asking me all sorts of baseball questions this evening, as we were driving back from Florida and listening to the Yankee game on XM. She's not a novice, as she's watched me play softball on occasion for years - she even played a few games on our coed team.
As long as it's not owned by THAT Tyler. :ymdevil: What time would we be meeting for a meal there before going over to the ballpark? I'm trying to plan my trip. I want to try to catch DD at Sami's beforehand, which is an hour away from Tyler's according to Google. I think he said he could meet at about 4:00.

I've been living in NoVA for too long. Do I need to worry about traffic getting from Smithfield to Durham on a Saturday afternoon? Also, where do I park for the meal/game?

Thanks. Looking forward to meeting all of you on August 15th.

I doubt you would have any traffic problems 'tween Smithfield and Derm :)) :)) . I'd park at one of the garages in the American Tobacco district area adjacent to the DBAP. Tyler's is within that complex. We have parked for free there after hours/weekends but if there is a Bulls game, they may charge $5-7 for "event" parking.

Sami's to the DBAP is just under 60 miles, almost all at 55 - 70 mph speed limits. Traffic usually isn't a problem and it would be not quite an hour's travel time. If game time is 7 pm, those eating at Tyler's would want to meet no later than 5 (for have adequate time for drinking :D ). Which mean's I'd leave Smithfield ~ 4 pm to get there. I'd have to choose one or the other, probably going to Tyler's. But you and DD are certainly welcome to eat at Sami's without me! :))

I have an extra ticket to the game. Anyone else want to join us or is there anyone who would like to bring another person to the game?

I have a friend who lives in Durham. He's a former grad student at Duke, then went on to be an assistant professor there. Now he's working on starting his own department at NCCU. Good guy. He might be interested in coming to the game. Should I ask him?

I am sad to announce that the reason Tilly has an extra is because I won't be able to make it. My aunt's surprise 60th birthday party is the same night. I originally thought the party would be the next weekend, as that's her true birthday, and there was some confusion as to the date, which was why I thought I might be able to make the Bulls game.
As I told Tilly, though, this just means that I promise to be in attendance for at least two football games this fall.

The tix were $9 even.

Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow night!

Safe travels bjornolf and Miles.

Nothing like hosting a party and then not showing up... Sorry you'll miss dinner.

What time is everyone getting to Tyler's? 5 pm? Does the game start at 7?

I'm hosting the game, Tyler's was bjornolf's baby.

The game does start at 7 and there are supposed to be fireworks after the game.

AFAIK, he's having dinner with DD at Sami's in Selma on Saturday and then heading north from there.

Correction! Bjornolf WILL be at Tyler's and the game (for an inning or two)! He's having an early (~4 pm) dinner with DD at Sami's, then heading up to Durham. He expects to have a beverage at Tyler's with us, then go to the game.
